Hot or Cold

The Dumb One

New member
Does warm/hot water freeze faster than chilled water ?

I think cold water would freeze faster, just makes sense, but a small few wish to challenge my superior wisdom and understanding of all useless knowledge.

I've always thought that hot water freezes faster. Don't know why that is. After thinking about it, it really doesn't make sense. Probably something I heard growing up and it just stuck with me.

I had a rabbit as a chile, and my dd always said "don't give her warm water, it freezes faster" Wow the fuck does this make sense
?

Hardrock put the pieces to the puzzle.
Always knew he'd stick a rubber hose up his nostril!!!

based off gr 7 science... water molecules in hot water are moving more quickly than those in colder water... in order for water to freeze, the molecules must must be moving incredibly slowly, so one would figure that the the additional time required for the hot water molecules to slow down would be the difference in time between cold water and hot water freezing... unless this is a joke and i just ruined it :S

Actually, both freezing, and boiling occur when the liquid itself reaches the required temperature. Logic would tell you that it would take longer for hot water to reach the temperature required for freezing. But, then again, what do I know?

it's a joke to me but i know a few people that believe that hot water will freeze faster than cold water.

Like drinking water will lengthen the affects of alcohol

cold water will freeze faster, but not much faster at all, it only takes hott water to get down to room temp in a few mins
