excellent advice---and he's SERIOUS about the salmon (fish is great for lowering overall cholesterol and increasing HDL's{good cholesterol}.....One thing I believe was overlooked: getnig off a ccycle of AS; your chol. will will decrease naturally (if the high colesterol was induced by AS) so give it time BUT not too much!~
 
Great thread with great responses. I am not at the 454 big block, but stay around 280 total. I am lucky in that I have very high HDL. The info in this thread has been very helpful!
 
Last August I had bloodwork done for life ins. I was mid cycle, 750mg test per week along with 50mg winnie per day. My weight was 231# and my cholesterol was 376. My triglycerides were 223, my HDL was 38, LDL 293. I went on a diet, cutting out the pound of beef I ate for lunch everyday and replaced it with a chicken breast and salad. Twelve weeks later I weighed 200# and my cholesterol was 238, triglycerides were 113, HDL 47, LDL 168.
 
Did you make sure you don't eat or drink anything 5 hours before the blood test? If you ate anything in that time frame, it most likely inflated the results and that is why the cholesterol is so high. It happened to me once.

great info. do you know whether eating fina (not shooting or transdermal) would screw up hdl/ldl numbers?
 
BTW - Carbs aren't going to raise cholesterol levels, it's the proteins that will do that.

Actually fat raises cholesterol, and anything that becomes fat (IE unused carbs and protein)
High body fat will raise cholesterol too. If you eat a lot of fat and meat (adkins) and your bf is low you can have a good lipid profile

Start taking Niacin, 500 mgs a day. It is the best thing. Better then dietary fiber, although no reason not to take that as well.
 
i took some advice from here after winstrol crushed my profile, i was taking:

gugglesterones 45mg a day
no-flush niacin 2000mg a day

this along with vit. c, e, milk thistle, saw palmetto, magnesium, taurine, garlic, and udo's oil.

my cholesterol was 191, 10 hdl, 181 ldl

5 weeks later it was 140, 25 hdl, 115 ldl

the doctor was amazed. i have in the past had an hdl of over 70

This is the potential problem with low carb diets. People tend to eat foods high in saturated fats(bacon,etc.) The best way to drop bodyfat is eat a well balanced diet with plenty of high quality carbs(oats,vegetable,fruits,etc.) high protein and healthy fats. These low carb diets are crap. A balanced diet with plenty of cardio is the best approach.
 
WOW- definitely try and improve the HDL/LDL ratio, which is a very important factor in cadiovascular health.

Like a lot of the guys said, stay away from the diet high in saturated fats like the meats, and increase quality fats like the omega 3s, fish, flax, nuts.

I love preaching about Green Tea.... Good damn stuff....
