Hip Popping

New member
Starting to feel a "popping" in my right hip and have some dull aching. This has happened before. About 6 years ago I was doing Tae-Bo and I had the same problem in the same hip. I simply stopped doing Tae-Bo, it went away and I haven't had a problem since.

The popping seems to happen when walk and sometimes when I sit down. It sort of feels like tendons rubbing over the bone???

Any suggestions as to what this might be? Any recommendations on exercises I could do to make it better?

My hip bone cracks where it connects to my left leg. It's happened ever since I went on rollercoaster where your feet hang. Although I don't feel any pain when it happens. You might want to ask your doctor about it, perhaps an xray. If there was no pain, I would say don't worry.

FZ - My squatting seems to be okay, but maybe it is because of the heavier weight. This is making me nuts. Besides the fact that it hurts, it is grossing me out.

C3 - it's not really a cracking, but it is where the leg connects to the hip. Like I said if I walk and hold my hand on it feels like tendons popping over the bone.

Great article. Thanks :D . I need to find a good chiropractor that is more sports related (miss the one I used to go to back home). I have to wait until my new health insurance kicks in at the end of January though. My current/old plan doesn't have much of a selection. With my new plan I can go wherever I want.

that "tendon popping" all over the damn place feeling i've got in both my wrists, and my right knee.

you should hear my elbows though, i can crack them on cue every 10 minutes.

no pain though.

cracking in ankles too. ah, the human body :p

might be hip dysplasia.....might be osteoarthritis....might be a ligament injury...how did you do the injury this time round? did it happen ater a specific lifting or what?

i had the same problem doing kung fu (clicking hip and dull aching....and then after the aching went away just the clinking).....solved it with weight training, stretching (dynamic and static), and modification of technique for the kicks. for me im sure it was due to the instability of the ligaments round the acetebalum of the femur which caused it to be less stable, so it took glucosamine and EFA's but im not sure if that helped as ive never had the injury before

it was the round kicks that used to do it worst for me....weight training to my memory never aggrevated it

I get problems with my hip swimming is good for it and light squats. Give running a miss for a few months and work on the lower back, legs and gut keeping it light. Better still go and see the doctor.

What kind of stretching are you doing?

Every tried wide stanced box squats?

Do you have access to any kinds of bands like the ones for sale at www.elitefitnesssystems.com or www.jumpstretch.com?

Have you tried using any kind of muscle rub (icy-hot, etc...) or Aleve?
