High Rep Squats

I've seen many posts recomending these as an option for cardio. What exactly does this entail? 3 sets of 30 reps with 45 seconds rest? etc, etc.
 
ouch that sounds like a pain in the ass....literally..lol.
but it doesnt seem like it would build much muscle
 
i try and do 2 sets heavy (6-8 reps) and two sets light (12-18 reps) and that gets my heart racing and my metabolism in high gear. about 2 mins rest each time.....but try to do 1 minute inbetween the light sets. i almost forget about the leg extensions after that shit. :D
 
For HI cardio purposes do 20 reps for five sets, or thereabouts. Its a good alternative, or addtion even, to sprints. It will get you ripped and help your leg deverlopment dramatically with regard to detail and endurance.

Yep, 20 rep squats will get your heart pounding like nothing else. I've been doing these on leg day to just to test out their effectiveness for cutting in the absence of other cardio work. I'm steadily losing fat with just diet, weight training, and occasional NYC use. I noticed much better progress after changing my squats to 20 reps.

Take a weight you can do 8-10 reps with nonstop, and go to 20 reps. It really kicks your ass the first 2 weeks or so, but you really get into it after that.

jc21: I moved to this workout primarily because my legs were growing TOO much, and I was developing some pretty mean stretch marks. I thought I wouldn't gain as much size with this workout, but I definitely have added some size even with a calorie deficit (and some anabolics :) )

Wow i feeling like puking just thinking about that!:sick:But i'm definately going to give it a try...

BTW, how much rest do you reccomend inbetween sets, and around what %of intensity?

Yeah I've puked a few times. But that's just because I didn't give myself enough rest between sets or I drank way too much water. I never time my rest between sets, but it is much more than with normal workouts. I just monitor my pulse and breathing and go once I feel like I can handle it again.

I'm sure fukkenshredded has a better answer about the rest though.

yea high rep sqauts are best thing for leg growth....when i was in high school( 1 year ago) lol i bought a book from all about the 20 rep sqaut program and did as it told me and i put on 12 lbs of muscle in a month!(no juice) and better yet i set a gym record sqauting 225lbs for 38 reps (under 200 wieghtclass) well u may puke but best thing for leg and all over growth
