High protein in Urine????

Last time I got a physical my protein in my urine was extremely high. The doctor said it could be from my high protein diet and not drinking enough water or my steroid use. At the time I was running test, tren and winny. I ready that high protein in urine is a sign of kidney failure. Do my kidneys now have permanent damage to them? Was it just my diet and low water intake? Or, was it because my it was during my cycle and everything will return to normal when I come off. I have been off for at least 3 months now.

they may have some damage
that is most likely- increase water
cycle is a factor, particularly tren and winstrol

you need to increase water intake and lower protein intake (not necessarily cals)

also increase potassium and magnesium, add cranberry extract

If you were non-fasting when you did your blood work that can affect as well, sometimes significantly (as I learned yesterday lol)

Most likely it would be related to your water intake. I would increase water intake to at least 1 gallon to 1.5 gallon per day (assuming 200lb man). and add cranberrry. I would keep protein the same because if you change that plus the other things and your blood protein goes down you wouldnt be able to determine exactly why.

Then get tested again in 30 days or so, if your protein is still very high then, that would be more indicitive of a more serious issue.

How was your Creatinine and BUN?

They did not mention my Creatine or BUN.

The thing that sucks about kidneys is they dont heal like the liver does. Once you fuck them up, time to find a replacement or dialysis machine.

:(

You should take dandilion root and/or cranberry to help......You know, i would think (not totally sure, it is isnt it?) that protein is a mineral up you water intake big time.....i would at least double it.

Creatinine and BUN are better indicators of renal failure, they would be high and your DOC would have shit.

though if you are taking creatine, creatinine will be elevated (or if you even exercised that day or heavily the day before)

also true... creatinine AND BUN elevated would indicate more significant muscle breakdown... and your body's inability to deal with the amount of breakdown that was happening

Thats why I asked about it :)

Point being, i wouldnt flag it unless your BUN and Creatinine were high.....high numbers in both would cause concern and further testing. Creat over 1.5mg/dl and BUN over 25mg/dl are what to look for. In acute renal failure, your phosphorus, Na, and K would also be high...these are all blood values, not urine components BTW...

Ok.. im gonna chime in here a sec.. Ive had 2 UTI's and near kidney failure, in ONE years. 1 from coming off a high protient test E/deca cycle for 12 weeks. Water is KEY , as well as not eating SO much protien. Cranberry juice+water try to lay off diuretics both natural ie soda , coffee and "water" pill types. UTI's are so fucken painful man. pissing blood feels like razors through the shaft. ow. One of the first things the doc said to me when I was getting into my hospital gear was "Do you do steroids" as he glimpses at the ridiculous acne on my back/shoulders I replied "No never, why do you ask?" he replies "Well sometimes people who use steroids ,it really messes up there kidneys". Bottom line is my mother is a nurse and the things I listed above are reccomended for good kidney health. and uhh, yea they said I need to see a urologist otherwise im gonna end up on a dialysis. Not fun bro!!

Steroids wouldnt cause acute renal failure like an infection would. Its tough for the kids to filter the excess urea with the uncompensated lack of water...but not renal failure.....id say the UTI....two in a year, you need that checked, highly abnormal for a dude.

Well I am assuming that the other kidney function labs were also done and normal. I would also think that the dr would have mentioned if they were not cause that is a more serious sign of failing kidneys than high protein. I would do as the dr instructed and get recheck again. Hydration is key here.

Yea Ill get around to getting it checked =P Since I just got bloodwork done coming OFF a cycle I wonder what its gonna look like , my psychiatrist who ordered the testing is gonna be like wtf? when she sees my test levels. I told her i take "legal" test increasing supplements because I think i have naturally low levels ;)

My BUN on my latest bloodwork was 34, but my creatinine was 1.4... I didnt realize how much eating before your bloodwork could affect it... I had eaten 3 times already that day, probably about 100grams of protein... im sure that was the main reason for my BUN being so high

All other tests were well within normal range (except triglyc as a result of not fasting as well )
