What is a High Maintenance Women?

I take care of myself by working out and eating right.

I was thinking last night if most people would consider
that High Maintenance?

I think of a HMW as a girl who wears a lot of make-up, is emotionally dependent, and requires said boyfriend to financially support them. Either or all of these would qualify a girl as "high maintenance" in my book but the phrase does seem fairly vague.

it would mean not being able to leave the house looking anything less than dolled up.Hair always blowdried,and styled,all 12 pounds of make-up applied,ect..
It could also mean she needs to much attention from you,or
she might be the type of girl that always has you pay for them(fucking despire those slugs)!!!

A high maintenance woman requires much attention... they don't necessiarly have to wear alot of makeup... women do that to look nice...

However, they need to be treated like little princesses all the time... be pandered on. If you are dating a high maintenance woman... you are more like one of her ever-complimenting flock than a boyfriend.

My mom is the PERFECT example of a high maintenace woman.
Bathes at least twice a day, cannot leave the house without make-up, cannot wear pants (she hasn't worn pants since a teen), has to have her hair and nails done every other week, doesn't work.

Here's my definition of a high maintenance woman. It's a woman who cannot just fucking relax and enjoy sitting and talking and watching a movie at home on Friday night. It has nothing to do with how she keeps up her appearance as I prefer women who do. If you try to suggest a quiet night at home to a high maintenance woman she's gonna look at you like you just asked her to drink some gasoline. I HATE these women as they leave me exhausted and feeling like I have been drug around on a worldwide clubbing and social tour. When their asses DO hit a chair, it's only to say "So, what are we doing now?".

So true. They need to be the center of attention.

C, we rammed horns, so to speak, about me calling your gals high maintenance which is really none of my business because you do have to live with your choices and your gals . Yes, it's not just about makeup and looking good, it's about "me, me, me"..as in Give me your money, give me your time, give me your attention, give me your life. I think it all has to do with being dependent on people and extraneous things.

I have female friends who are high maintenance and they are emotionally exhausting. It's great to take care of yourself and look good, but not when it borders obsession and skews the simplicity of life. My friends freak out when they are snowed in, there's a blackout or storm, and don't know how to react to chaos on their own. Most of them can't survive without a man. I can only imagine how it is for their men to deal with all that...

There are several definitions of High maintenance -

- one is the woman who personally puts a lot of work into her appearance, ie makeup, hair, working out, painting nails etc.
- the other is the emotionally high maintenance lady, this generally means someone who is a bit of a drama queen, has to be centre of attention, clingy and dependent etc.

Tori Amos uses the term high maintenance to mean someone who is choosy about who they associate with, she means this in a positive way, as in, someone who doesn't want emotionally draining people around.

Most people mean definition number 2. Allure magazine usually means number 1.
