Hi!

I'm a newbee to this board. I have been to the diet board, but I realize that if I'm going to accomplish what I plan, I am going to need advise from the ladies...

I'm 33yrs old, about 320 and I REALLY want to do this. I am walking daily about 30min, and I'm watching what I eat, but I can tell I need something with a little boost, to help my metablism and give me some energy. Let me tell you a little more about myself to understand why I asked about energy boosters. In my early teens and 20's I was a heavy meth user, used from age 14 to 29. Since I stopped using, I gained so much and I have been told that due to my drug use, my metabolism is all messed up. I know my weight plays a part into my tiredness, which can sometimes trigger depression. I'm not here to tell a sob story or look for sympathy. I know it is going to take hard work and that no one can do it for me. Is there anything I can take that can increase my energy til I can do it on my own?

Also, nutrition and excercise programs are new to me, so I could really use some help getting a program together for me. I went to the Doctor and was told it was just depression and wanted to put me on meds, but like I said, I know that the depression stems from my weight. So, in order for me not to be depressed, I know I need to get fit. I'm ready and willing to take in as many suggestions or advise I can get.... Gracias..

Thanks Spatterson, My goals right now aren't big...my primary goal is to stay focused. I know me and if I expect toooo much at once, I'll only discourage myself. I'm trying to get a workout program together that I can start off with and a regular diet going.

Welcome! My personal advice to you is not to get overwhelmed by the amount of information on some of these boards. Don't get me wrong, most of it is EXCELLENT and dead-on, BUT it's very easy to get bogged down and discouraged.

Remember:
- Doing SOMETHING is better than doing NOTHING. If you can't do cardio for an hour, do it for 10 minutes and build up from there.
- It's a marathon not a sprint (and that's true for EVERYONE). Changes won't happen overnight.
- One bad cheat session does not a diet ruin. We ALL have them...(even the best of us, GLADI :) ) GET BACK ON THE HORSE GIRL!!!!
- Consistency is the KEY...just keep on keepin' on!
- And lastly, we are here for you :)

GOOD LUCK!!!

Spatterson,

I'm 5'9" and I am not on any meds. My boyfriend has weights in the back yard that I plan on using. Other than my weight, I'm healthy.

Hi and welcome:) I am glad you want to change your lifestyle and do it the right way and not look to meds to help lift you up and change the problem...but in reality it only covers it because the problem was never resolved. You will find tons of support on this board...walking is great to do...getting in some sort of physical activity will be great for you...eating 5-6 times a day will also help increase your metabolism..as well as drinking a lot of water..stay away from juices, soda and junk food in general. Drop me an email I would like to give ya some good info..I think I could help you out some:)
