Hey i'm Dawn and new to the site.
I am trying to get back into shape after having an accident on my bike. I fractured my hip and shoulder and since have gained 25lbs :( I seem to be having trouble staying motivated because i'm not seeing many results and have been going to the gym for 2 months now and I run 6km 5 days a week.
any tips would be great!

breakfast I have oatmeal with protien
snack: shake
lunch: salad w/tuna or chicken
snack: shake
dinner: usually what my boyfriend makes me :) but he's really clean and a health freak so it's usually good chicken and salad or ground turkey w/veggies or egg white wraps

my workout I usually run 6km then go to the gym and lift. if i'm by myself I don't really have a routine but if I go with my boyfriend he trains me properly. but I usually do get to the gym 5 or 6 days a week.

:arty: Welcome to EF!! :arty:

Which kind of bike?

Motorcycle or human powered?

You can track everything that goes in your mouth on fitday.com if you aren't already tracking it somehow.

It can be an eye opener after you do it for a few days. I "thought" I was eating healthy until I started using fitday and realized that I was eating a lot of carbs and natural sugars but very little protein or good fats.

What are your macros try adding your food into www.fitday.com it will keep track of everything for you. Make sure your getting enough calories perday to measure this take your weight and multiply it by 10 or 12 that should be your caloric intake daily. 40% protein 30% carbs 30% fat good to shoot for. What kind good fat and carbs besides the oatmeal are you getting in.

Look in the stickies at sample diet and tons of other information to see if that can help you,but I would for sure start logging my food into fitday you'll be surprised as to what you missing or getting to much of.

How much water do you drink?
Do you lift heavy? How many days a week do you lift?

:wavey: Welcome:)

Quick question, why 125 @ 5'8? Seems LOW to me ... On my good leg (lol don't ask) I'm 5'9 and I will NEVER see 120's in this lifetime, even 130's at this rate. What's your frame like?

I think it was mentioned ... diet...www.fitday.com

What are you lifting? When? How much? How heavy?

Hey girl! Welcome over from the Pix of Members site. Just to catch the Ladies' board people up to date - em is HAWT and quite the lady:

http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?t=468139

Major props girl! To Bunny's statement re: weight, I'm 5'7" and I COMPETE at 135 lb. Its a matter of muscle mass, but just for the record, weight is sort of irrelevant as a measure or a goal -rather how you wear it & your bodyfat are nice to pursue. I will give that different people have different builds, but I would think some mass would contribute to your firefighting?

Anyway welcome over here and we look forward to more posting!

Hi Dawn!

I'm new too... (sort of!)

I'm trying to get rid of a bunch of recently gained weight too (from over the past 6 months)

Everyone here has been super helpful and given me good ideas.

I checked out your pics and I think you look great.. you certainly have a lot of the guys drooling.

i'm way to embarrassed to show my blubber on the net

HI....I think you are REALLY pretty. WELCOME TO EF!!!

NOw, listen to sassy and bunny, they know what they are talking about!!! I agree with them, the number on the scale is just a number. How you look is a WHOLE Other story. In time, you will agree with this too. It took me some time to get on this page...but now that I got there, everything is in its place(almost :) )

Good luck with your goals, Im sure it will be no trouble now that you came to the right place!

Welcome! Hang in there, your results are right around the corner, usually 2 to 3 months before you see any real changes.

Hun, I'm the same height as Bunny, and in my life I have weighed as low as 125 .. when I was anorexic ... it lasted about three months.

I also weighed 145 once ... I think that lasted around six months ...

Stuck at 165 the longest, ten or eleven years, probably won't see that again, either.

Granted, I'm a solid 5'9 and a pinch, and I'm big framed, but 5'8" and 125 lbs is actually at the lowest end of the BMI scale, verging on medically UNDERweight.

Why not drop the focus on the numbers and just try revising your body fat percentages? Build some muscle, drop some body fat? Because 145 is NOT fat for 5'8".

Really, the scale is just evil, totally, utterly, completely evil.

But otherwise, welcome darlin' and if what I said hits you wrong, screw it and forget I said it, I hope you achieve your goals no matter what :rose:

First, welcome! :wavey:

Otherwise, I hope you will seriously consider what musclemom said. She's a smart one! :)

One more thing to very seriously consider: extra muscle would benefit you TREMENDOUSLY in your riding. The extra power you could generate from appropriately-trained muscle will make a tremendous difference in your hill climbs, switchbacks, and general ability to power out of sharp turns into longer straightaways. You'll have more control on downhills and greater ability to muscle out of situations (including falls).

Let us know what you think. Again, welcome! :)
