Hi all,

I am Ariel, and have been following this board for a while, wanted to post and say hi...A special thanks to spatterson and warlobo(amongst others) in provideing great support and info.

I am gearing up for a comp(not sure yet) in nov. I am trying to decide if I need somone to diet coach me, or if I should just brave this one on my own...In the past actually hiring someone did'nt always turn out to be the best choice, as the longer we are in the iron game, we figure out how our bodies work. I like the reassurances that one gets from having a coach, since I always seem to doubt myself. I figured there is so much postive support on these boards that it may be enough to handle those hard days when there is nagging doubt...Please take a look at my diet and let me know what you think. All critics welcome:)

I am eating between 1900 and 2300 cals a day.
Presently no cardio(except for work, I think i may do the same thing bikinimom does)
All whole food AND cycling of carbs...Fat is pretty high, carbs low most days except for sunday and thursday. Here was today. Not a carb up day.

Meal 1
4 oz chicken
2 egg yolks
6 whites

meal 2
6 oz chicken(raw)
1.5 tbs peanut butter
veggies

meal 3
2 scoops des whey pro
1 tbs udos oil
peach slices

meal 4
7 oz chicken
1.5 tbs peanut butter
veggies

meal 5
6 egg whites
1.5 pb

meal 6
2 scoop des whey pr
1 tbs udos oil
1 tbs cream

1950 cals
240 pro
35 carb
80 fat

I feel very good on this diet, strong and full of energy...I am HIGHLY HYPOGLYCEMIC, and have had sugar crashes after eating only oats as my carbs...My last contest diet became a wash, I had some real troubles with my sugar levels...Since lowering carbs I have had not one sugar crash...I can actually go 3 hours between meals, and train heavy....
I train 4 days a week
9 working sets for large groups
4-6 working sets for small groups
I train each body part once a week.

Right now I am 148 with about 18 percent bodyfat give or take a pecent...I have been up and down in weight over the past year by about 25 pounds 2 times for show prep(this may have been the cause of the hypo???) I am looking for a SANE way to enter a figure contest(yes I really want to do bodybuilding, but there is just not a large forum for it out here in Hawaii) plus the diet may be a little less extreme, and I need a goal...My goal on a figure stage would be to be just as balanced and muscular as a amature bodybuilder, but maybe with a 4 to 5 percent increase in fat levels...

I forgot to mention that on my carb up days 2 times a week that is when my cals reach 2300 or so...I am not really losing fat on this diet(but I have only been on it strictly for 3 weeks) I want to stick it out as I feel good, and the contest is in nov...but if I get the opionion that it is just to much, I may have to reconsier...

Thanks all
ariel

Hi Ariel!
Having someone diet coach you may have its pros and cons, if you look for a coach try to see his/her experience in preparing girls for competition... in my personal opinion not all gym trainers will know exactly what your needs are... anyway some coaches have experience and you can use that in advantage.
On the other hand you can do it on your own, too, you may aid with forums such as this one but also try to do some research on your own and be free to come and ask anything... if you do it your own you'll learn a hell out of this business and be sure to keep a training/diet journal so that you can come afterwards to learn about mistakes and experience.
On what category will you be competing?

Regarding your diet I have some questions... why are you keeping fat high? Have you tried other sources of carbs besides oats? What type of cream do you take for the 6th meal? Does 1.5 pb refers to a protein bar?? Do you have an hypoglycemic chronical problem?
