Do you guys and gals all hit up Big Bear the most? I am relatively new in San Diego so I need some pointers on where to snowboard. I worked at a snowboard shop in Florida(thats right folks-Florida!) and I have brand new PHAT gear for my girl and I. I skiied most of my life so I am going to take some snowboard lessons but I figure I can pick it up since I used to wakeboard. Anyway, I am thinking of hitting Tahoe,Big Bear,Maybe Whistler too if I can afford it(which I doubt)- where do you all go?

I have had this equipment since last year and I didn't get a chance to go last season so I am dying to use it. It should be funny cause my girl and I will "look" like we are pro's with our new gear(I got her a K2 Luna and myself a Ride Profile) but we will suck.

I'm going to take lessons at Mountain High. It's the closest and pretty decent. I don't see the point in going to the big resorts if you are just beginning. If you become an expert the first time, then splurge. I really hate driving, so whatever is close is okay with me.

Ahh the curse of living in San Diego and wanting to snowboard..

Mt. High sucks... its pretty much for kids.. the runs suck and its poorly managed.

Big bear is the best down here.. but snow summit is a close second. Both get crowded, but have some good runs and terrain.

I'd only go to Mt High if I wanted to go for some night boarding.

Personally I go to Mammoth.. I will stay up late Thursday.. be tired all day at work Friday.. get home and go to bed at 7pm.. get up at 2am.. drive to Mammoth.. hit the slopes by 9... stay the nuight there... drive homne the next day.. sometimes I can even drive home the same day if I am with people who can rotate driving...

How far is Mammoth, 7 hours? Awesome mountain, that is for sure! How long you been boarding Lestat? I think I am gonna take lessons at Big Bear. I am gonna hit up Killington or Okemo around X-mas.

if all lifts are open, theres no way big bear is better than snow summit. The only perk of bear,is less people, but they don't have as many runs, and no snowboard park.My last trip was december last year, the mountain kicked my ass,and broke my wrist.

Big bear has two terrain parks now.... just as many runs as summit with all lifts open.. equally as crowded in my book.
