Hernia in the groin

Anyone ever have one? What are the symtoms?
i had one a couple of years ago. i was lifting a heavy bike whick i think caused it. Later that night when i was showering i noticed a lump on the left side of my pubic region. It was uncomfortable. I went to doc and he said i had a double hernia. We waited a week or two to see if i should have surgery. i was one of the lucky ones that it went back in and stayed in and i have never noticed it again. my friend had one that would come out and made a huge bulge about the size of a tennis ball. he would lay down and massage it back in. He had to get surgery. A procedure were they put a mesh type substance over that area. (inside). it is a very common surgery among men. The hernia is not serious. only in rare cases when it gets tangled. Go see a doc and he will be able to feel the region and tell you if you have one. hope this helps

Ive had a bilateral inguinal hernia before(1 either side in groin area). Think i done it one day doing squats. Felt a slight twinge one day, and thought nothing of it. Carried on training with no more probs. Was in shower a few months later and noticed lump, this dissapeared when lying down. Went to docs got it checked out and had to have op. Never had any pain from it though. Just go and get it checked out, takes about 6 weeks recovery(i had keyhole surgery) Any more questions just ask.

thanks, do you know if it will cause a pain in the testicle?
i no you will definetly have a tenderness in groin aread if your testicle hurts or has pain i would definitely go get it checked out by a doc.

definately get it checked

yes, a hernia can cause pain in the scrotum

most common is a hernia in the area of the 'anulus inguinalis superficialis' - this is where you can see and feel the 'lump', the nerves for the scrotum also run in that area, so if the hernia puts pressure on these nerves the pain can flare into the scrotum

however, there is also the possibility of the hernia descending right into the scrotum, or the upper thigh, which is less probable, but still possible

general symptoms are a 'stinging', slightly 'tearing' pain in the inguinal region when coughing or lifting objects from the ground (in other words - everytime the abdominal muscles are used)

better get it checked out

Thanks guys, it turned out to be Epididymitis. It is an infection of the testicle tube. MY doc says it is common in sexually active men my age (26). It is not an STD of any sort, it is compared to a urinary track infection in a lady. I got my meds and my nut feels better.
