It varries depending upon many factors, including sex, ethnicity, age at death, lifestyle, nutrition, health history, age of remains, environmental history of remains (soil type, mineral content of water, damage from animals or decomposition, etc.), etc.

That's why guys like Clyde Snow get paid the big bucks to identify remains. Its a very, very sophisticated scientist who can juggle so many inputs and variables and remain accurate on a consistant basis.

But, to simplify, less than 40 lbs.

That's an average. A big fat sucker weighing around 400lb. is not going to have 56 pd. to 72 pd. skeleton.
