Help with Win2k and I.E.5

Okay, if anyone can help me out here, I'd really appreciate it. Just recently, my computer has decided it no longer wants to save pics as jpegs. Now, anytime I 'right click>save as' on a picture, win2k or IE5 tries to save it as a bitmap. This of course sucks, since the file is like ten times larger and is a pain to attach in an e-mail. Any thoughts on getting things back to normal? Thanks!

it is because your cache is full.
IE for some reason doesn't always automatically see that and clear it out.
If you go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Files (under tmp files).

you can also go into the settings and adjust the cache size and also delete them from in there.

Thanks HS! Increasing the size of the cache did the trick.

Now there's another problem though. Trying to delete the junk filling up the 'temporary internet files' folder locks up IE. I tried doing so via Windows Explorer also, but if I try to delete more than like ten items at a time (there's about 35K items in the folder), it just locks up and I get a 'not responding' via task manager. Do you know of any other way I can clear out the cache? Thanks again!

Okay. I have to take off for school here in a few minutes. I think I'll try to 'select-all' and delete before leaving and let it lock-up. Maybe when I get back this afternoon it'll have done something. Thanks again for your help!

Not that anybody cares, but I just got home from school after being gone six hours, and my computer did successfully manage to finally delete all 35,000 items in the cache during that period. (Cleared-up about three gig of HD space.) I think I'll now be deleting the temp files a little more frequently. :)
