I wrote a biography speech on Michael Jordan. I have to present it tommorow, I was wondering if someone can take a look at it and help me out wioth improvements. I need to establish credibility ect...

Its spaced like this cause I read it when giving speech. Spaces are so I pause and look up:) I know it's a shitty speech but it will surffice.

Being a fan of basketball, I decided to do my speech on Michael Jordan. Watching him growing up and doing research on him I can tell you a bit about his life and his career in the game of basketball.

Michael Jordan has achieved so much in the sport of basketball and has changed the game forever. He has shown a style of playing that no one had seen before.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 17, 1963. Soon after he was born his parents decided they didn’t want to raise children in NY and moved the family to Wilmington, North Carolina.

In Wilmington Michael attended school at Laney High School. During his time at Laney he played both baseball and basketball. Surprisingly he was a much better baseball player then basketball player during his younger years.

As a freshman he tried out for the Varsity team, during the tryouts his fellow classmate got the position on the team and Michael didn’t. The year Michael didn’t make the team was the year they went to the regionals.

Michael attended that game were he was the towel boy for the team. Determined to make the team the following year, he dedicated himself to working on his basketball skills.

He had practiced so much that many times he would skip class to play ball. The next year Michael made the team and started to get recognized by college scalpers.

After graduating high school in June 1981 the University of North Carolina granted him a full scholarship to play basketball.

In his freshman year at Carolina Jordan played the most important game of his career.
In a championship game verse Georgetown he had hit the game winning shot.

His season playing for North Carolina had gotten him the player of the year award and was the start to his professional career.

Soon after, Jordan had entered the NBA draft and decided not to finish college. In 1984 he was drafted to the Chicago bulls and went on to win the player of the year award.

Later on in his career he brought the bulls to three consecutive championships. In 1993 shortly after the win of his 3rd championship two teenagers murdered his father.

Devastated by his fathers death Michael Jordan announced his retirement from basketball and decided to play baseball for his father.

He had tried out for the White Sox but only made the minor league team. In 1995 after only one short season in the minors, Jordan quit baseball and returned to the NBA.

In 1996 he had once again led the Chicago bulls to another Championship making it their 4th one in 6 years.

Once again Michael Jordan decided to retire from the sport of basketball, this time he claimed he wanted to spend more time with his wife Juanita and their 3 children.

Shortly after his retirement he became a part owner of the Washington Wizards. Being an extremely competitive person, when the wizards were not doing that great he announced that he would return to the NBA and play on his own team.

After his return to the NBA he had scored his 30,000-point shot in his career while playing against his old team the bulls.

Besides being a star Athlete, Michael stared in an animated comedy movie, which was a basketball film with Bugs Bunny.

In Conclusion, There is no question that Michael Jordan is the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball.

No other player has achieved close to the amount Jordan has done in such a short time.

Even though Michael Jordan will soon retire once again for his final time, it is certain that there will never be another player like him, who has paved a new way for basketball.

"Being a fan of basketball, I decided to do my speech on Michael Jordan."

....

horrible introduction. i am not gonna be the best speech writer, but i would try something like, "any great fan of basketball knows that the level of skill and finesse of the game was greatly influenced by the presence of mj in the game..."

or try and introduction where you would be "broadcasting" a great moment in mj's game, such as an important play, or game winning shot.

How long does your speech have to be?

5 Mins. but all of mine have been like 2 mins....I don't lose that much credit for shortness.

That last statement can be taken another way.. I hope no one uses that one against me:D

Maybe a few grammatical issues...take a look at this:

Being a fan of basketball, I decided to do my speech on Michael Jordan. Watching him growing up and doing research on him I can tell you a bit about his life and his career in the game of basketball.

Michael Jordan has achieved so much in the sport of basketball, changing the game forever. He has a unique style of playing that no one has ever seen before and may never see again.

Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 17, 1963. Soon after he was born, his parents decided they didn’t want to raise their children in the city and moved the family to Wilmington, North Carolina.

In Wilmington, Michael attended Laney High School, where he played both baseball and basketball. Interestingly enough, he was a much better baseball player than basketball player during his younger years.

As a freshman, he tried out for the Varsity team. But after the tryouts, a fellow classmate got the position on the team and Michael did not. That same year, the Varsity team went to the Regionals where Michael served as the team towel boy. Determined to make the team the following year, he dedicated himself to improving his basketball skills.

He practiced so much that many times he would skip class to play ball. All of his hard work paid off. The next year Michael made the team and started getting recognized by college scalpers. Upon graduation from high school in June 1981, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill granted him a full scholarship to play basketball.

In his freshman year at Carolina, Jordan played the most important game of his career. In the championship game versus Georgetown, he made the game-winning shot. His season playing for North Carolina earned him the Player of the Year award and was the beginning of his professional career.

Soon after, Jordan had entered the NBA draft and decided not to finish college. In 1984, he was drafted to the Chicago Bulls and went on to win the Player of the Year award.

Later on in his career, he brought the Bulls to three consecutive championships. But then tragedy struck. In 1993, shortly after the win of his 3rd championship, two teenagers murdered his father.

Devastated by his father's death, Michael Jordan announced his retirement from basketball and decided to play baseball for his father. He tried out for the White Sox but only made the minor league team. In 1995, after only one short season in the minors, Jordan quit baseball and returned to the NBA.

In 1996, he once again led the Chicago Bulls to another Championship making it their 4th one in six years.

Once again, Michael Jordan decided to retire from the sport of basketball. This time he claimed he wanted to spend more time with his wife, Juanita, and their 3 children. Shortly after his retirement, he became a part owner of the Washington Wizards. Being the extremely competitive person he is, coupled with a lackluster season for the Wizards, Michael announced that he would return to the NBA and play on his own team. After his return to the NBA, he scored his 30,000th point shot in his career while playing against his old team, the Chicago Bulls.

In addition to being a star athlete, Michael starred in an animated comedy movie, which was a basketball film with Bugs Bunny.

In conclusion, there is no question that Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player in the history of the sport. No other player has ever achieved anything remotely resembling the success of Jordan. Even though he is planning to retire for the "final time", there is one thing we can be certain of...there will never be another player like him.

I might also talk a little more about why he was so inspiring; i.e., the dedication, leadership, etc. This sounds a little too much like an encyclopedia account... Good Luck!
