HELP With Ear Piercing

I have both of my ears pierced at the bottom of each ear, with a hoop. Not too big of a deal I like it and have had it for a while now. Tonight I went to the mall to get my cartilage pierced. Wow I got home and tried to change the stud to a hoop, obviously not waiting the recommended 10-12 weeks, and it KILLED! I mean it hurt so badly I went totally nuts and punched a damn hole in my wall!! Scared myself there.

Anyway tomorrow I am going to go to a tatoo parlor and get my left cartilage pierced with a needle.. because a needle takes a little bit of cartilage out of your ear so I can go straight to a hoop and be done with it. Is this a good idea?

:D:D

If it starts to swell and get red then you have an infection. My girlfriend's sister just got her cartilage pierced and it got infected. If she would have waited longer then it would have started traveling down to her lymph nodes.

dude... thanks man. I hope that a needle ends up working a lot better. Maybe this way I can go straight to a fucking hoop instead of dickin around with a stud for weeks and weeks.

:cool::cool:

I have my ear pierced but not the cartilage. If it hurts a lot then I would put some ice on it but you have to be very carefull and make sure you don't get an infection. The cartilage gets very little blood flow, and it won't heal as quickly and as good as say the soft tissue on your ear lobe.

if you get your cart pierced at a tatoo shop you can just get them to put a captive bead ring it right away.

my suggestion: a 10gauge derma punch. hurts like a mutherfucker but pretty hardcore. i got 00g lobes right now, getting ready to get an industrial soon, septum, iron crosses and gauge my prince albert...

No way dude I dont want anything fatter than a needle point. Seriously I am NOT into pain at all. Not even a little bit. Want a very thin needle.

:D:D

Get your cartilage done in a tattoo shop and ask them to pierce with a hoop. I had mine done originally in the mall and it of course became infected. Be sure to wash it, turn it, and don't sleep on it for a while. Oh, and if you intend on going to get it done in the same ear that you already had pierced, you need to wait at least a month for it to heal again before re-piercing. Good luck!!

:devil:
Don't ever use a piercing gun! Go to a professional piercer and remember the cartilage takes longer to heal then the lobe. Follow the piercers advice with the after care.

I never had a problem with any of my cartilage piercings- I had the studs put in all three piercings. I changed out to the small hoops but found that it left an indent in my upper ear when I sleep on them. I changed back to the studs!

I also found that if you use Neosporin +Pain Relief , it tends to deaden the pain for the first week when it's most tender.I even used this stuff on my navel ring pierce- Never had a problem!

I do agree though...I'd never go to anywhere else but a tat shop for ANY piercings.

I pierced my own cartlige, it hurt like a mofo, and took about a half hour. Then, to get the loop in... ouch. On top of that, I am in the Army Reserve, and had to take it out every month. Took about a year to heal. I think it will take longer to heal with a loop than a stud. Just make sure to turn it every day, or it will start healing to whatever is in there.
