Entrance into canada is not a problem but the profiling has stepped up a bit. When they ask you what is the purpose of your visit tell the truth. If you say I am going on vacation for one week and have no luggage, well expect to be pulled over and your vehicle searched bumper to bumper. I have never had a problem going in to canada but they can run your license and if you are a felon you will be turned around and denied entry! If they see you had drug related arrests and or convictions it is at the discretion of the border guard/customs to allow you into the country. My little sister attended middlebury college in northern vermont and we always made beer runs just across the border next to lake champlain. We had no problems going in and got several cases of beer and then headed to the border to re-enter the states. The guard asked me in one sentence " what's your name ,your mothers maiden name, your place of birth, and your date of birth" well I was suprised and answered him quickly to his suprise and then he asked me if I had anything to declare. I answered yes and told him I had beer and he said you came all the way from connecticut to buy beer in canada? I told him I was visiting my sister at MIDDLEBURY COLLEGE, but he thought he was on to something. He let me pass and I parked and me and my buddies went in and paid the duty on the beer and used the bathroom. While in the bathroom I felt like someone was wathching me take a leak and when I turned around 2 agents were staring me down? I left the bathroom and headed for the car where my one friend was leaning against the vehicle as more customs officers were now sticking their hands in my car and looking in my ashtray for some roaches? They made me pull into the garage and one agent stood in front of my vehicle to make sure I was not going to run off! Her had his hand on his weapon and I pulled into the bay and they put my car on the lift. They made us all sit on a table and take off our shoes and socks. The bastards searched us each and went through our wallets! They stuck a long medal rod down the exaust pipe and banged on the undercarriage looking for hidden compartments?? 2 HOURS LATER they could not find anything and told us we could go!!! All the while they asked us which one of us was the JAMAICAN??? I had a jamaican sticker on my rear window and my grandfather is from there I told him. We finally left but I never looked at a customs person the same again! They have listening devices I later found out from a friends father who worked customs for 22 years and you had better watch what you say! GOING INTO CANADA IS FINE BUT COMING BACK TO THE STATES, WELL YOU BE THE JUDGE??? Always check your car for any paraphanellia, seeds, roaches, pipes or anything that could be a problem. sorry for the long post but I had to share this one with you all. stay alert and stay alive.........
