Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to do deads? Right now i usually Do partial deadlifts, 8-10 reps, almost straight legged. 3 sets twice a week.. I want to improve my overall strength=stomach-back-grip-hammys. Either point me to a thread, or someone give me some good Advice! ANy help is appreciated..

Are straigtht legged lifts ok? How many reps and sets?
Btw ive been lifting for 10 years, but have never really wanted to do dead lifts untill recently.

partials won't tranfer well to standard DLs. just start doing them from the floor, no belt,no straps. have an experienced lifter watch you for a few reps and give you a critique.

But you lift with your legs when you do deads dont you? I'd think keeping your legs straight would work the lower back like good mornings and with heavier weight , cause serious injury.

With deads, you use nearly your whole body. Legs, back, arms, shoulders all get hammered (not to mention the cns). Doing deads will help you put on mass and get stronger over all.
Take a look at the link from hunteruk and you'll figure it out. I go all the way back to the floor and loosen my grip, not just touch and goes. Make sure you start light, to get used to the lift and then start adding weight.
