help computer problem??

I restared my computer. and when it came up my desktop icons are gone and toolbar and everything is gone. so i guess i got a virus or spyware or something and they turned something off.

how do i fix it how do you get ti all back up.

everything works fine it is just the desktop is empty.
and i cant right click or anything. the only way i can get to anyfiles to to hit ctr/alt delete and click new task and go through there.

I dont know what to tell you.....i have the avg free edition anti virus and it seems to work ok..
do you have an anti virus on ur system?

This doesn't necessarily have to be a virus. For some reason the Windows Explorer Shell isn't loading. I'm not sure what would cause that though.

From the taskmanager, shutdown explorer.exe, it should reload.

or if it's not there for some reason, go up to file ---> new task and type in explorer.exe

If neither of these options work, boot into safe mode to see if the options load. If so and you have antivirus, try and run it from safe mode. If you don't, go to the run box in safe mode and type in msconfig. Go to the startup tab and see if you can spot the virus in there. If so, uncheck it to see if you can at least get back into windows normally then go to www.antivirus.com and run their online virus scan

i just rebooted.. yes i had protection.. but got through anyway..
