Help a puny teenager!

Alright, I am 16 years old, 177 cm (5'10" ~ 5'11"), and weigh only 130 lbs. I've never paid attention to making muscles or diet in my life (I play varsity soccer.. and you know how soccer players are like: skinny) and I want to start gaining some mass, but I possess no knowledge on bodybuilding or diet. My soccer coach gave me a few pointers but now, I would appreciate it if I could here some advice from the experienced guys.

Can you guys give me a few pointers on things, such as how my diet should look like, what exercises I should do (note that I have access to only dumbbells), etc?

Thanks.

The best advice I can give you is to get a plat membership here, and do some hardcore reading of the treads where others in your position have asked for similar advice. Use the platinum search function!

When you have dedicated a few hours a day for a week or so, then you can ask focused questions where you will get solid answers. Sorry to not start rifiling off about diet, sets and reps and other nuts and bolts, but someone asks a wide open question like this every day and all of the answers are already perfectly articulated here.

Good luck!

when i was 16 i was almost exactly your height and weight, i believe i was about 120lbs. As muskateer said start reading threads and get a good workout routine/diet going. The only thing that will hinder your muscle building is DEDICATION. im 22 now and weigh 195 still 5'11

Sounds like me. I got married (at 25 years old) at 6' and 125. I wasn't lifting, just working and playing bball. Over the years, I put on 80 pounds - mostly fat. I had a slender build with a beer belly. I started lifting and watching my diet and dropped to 180. Since then, just by diet, I've been as high as 260. Right now, after a few weeks off of the 5X5, I'm at 235. Compared to what I was back then - I'm friggin huge.
Your metabolism is probably way out there. The biggest thing is start eating 5-6 times a day. Try to stay away from fast foods and junk foods - chicken, fish, steak, veggies, fruits, just eat! You have access to dbs, start using them.
Like muskateer said, become a platinum member here and start reading. You'll learn how to lift and what to eat. You can put on weight and size, it's actually much easier than most people think. At 16, in several years, you could be a moose (all natural, too).
