My fiancee and I play nearly every night, she routinely beats me - but I can usually beat anyone else I play.
One of my best friends crushes even her though - he plays in tournaments against old people and stuff.
We usually break 300 - but he usually breaks 400 (in a two person game) - crazy.
My problem in Scrabble is that I like the patterns that the tiles make on the board. I tend to play words that make cool patterns or are rarely played instead of what gets me the best points. That is why I mainly want to program that stuff instead of play it.
I also can't spell to save my life, so even if I have a decent vocabulary, I can only spell about half of it.
Someday The Project will have to whup up on me in online Scrabble.

I have the same problem...I always want to spell cool words instead of maximizing my points. However, online Scrabble has taught me the value of spelling mundane words just to beat the tar out of your opponent by 50 or 60 points.
