What would happen if you add whey powder to a boiling liquid ?

Would it denatures just a fraction of the protein or a lot ?

When you subject whey protein to high heat, you permanently modify the protein structure, and the protein is therefore denatured and it has little or no biological activity left. What you're really losing is the enzymes. However, adding protein after you've already cooked your item, will be fine. Just not nuking the protein

sawastea is correct, although this happens in your stomach anyway. In fact, you can't digest or absorb protein until it is denatured.

I heat it (in oatmeal) and bake it (in homemade bars) and have had quite a bit of success....go figure. :p
