Healthy Nails...........

I have very flimsy nails, and they tend not to grow too much. When they DO grow, they always break. Does anyone know of something that actually works to help my nails get stronger, and maybe grow faster?? How 'bout maybe a vitamin or nailpolish.............I do drink plenty of milk!

well...maybe not that bad, but frickin bad. i just keep them short and hope for the best. i used to get acrylic and felt like a stripper...

Mine start out narrow at the bottom and then fan out and flatten at the top. They aren't that nice oval shape you normally see. I keep mine short too. I tried the acrylics once (for my wedding). Cool while it lasted.

My nails are almost an inch long...my secret...Sally Hanson's Teflon Tuff. It's a clear finger nail polish. Also, I tap my nails on a hard surface. This makes them stronger. I do this especially after washing dishes because the water makes them soft. It can drive people a little crazy because they don't like the rap-tap-tapping. As for the shape of your nails...take an emory board to them and shape them. If they don't grow the way you want them...make them the way you want them. Everyone swears my nails are fake but I turn them over and show them they are real. It may take you some time to find out "how" you want them and it may take them a while to get there but they will get there.

My nails grow out straight...I shape them to where they are oval shaped. All it is, is practice makes perfect.

Hi Azia!

I used to have the same problem, mine were really weak from too long with the fake ones, they were flimsy and they just wouldn't grow - I started taking Silica, it's a supplemet for your hair, skin and nails. Only take one a day though because it's bad for you in high doses.

I'd advise against witchcraft, there's formaldehyde in it and it will totally dry out your nails, it only really worked for me when I had it on. And another tip, don't file your nails in a sawing back and forth motion, it makes them fray. Start at the outside corner and file in one direction toward the center of your nail, and then do the same in the opposite direcrion form the other corner toward the center of the same nail.

It's great, my nails are long and strong and beautiful, I never thought my stumpy little fingers could look like this! Worked for me!

Hey, thanks, that does help a lot! Where can I get Silica from??? It wouldn't mess with BC pills would it? I have to watch out for stuff that could interact with it. (Example - St Johns Wort herbal pills).....know what I mean?

nope you'll be fine with the BC's! I can get Silica anywhere in Canada, grocery store vitamin department, drugstore, health food store, GNC.
fitFossil, you might want to try this too because mine used to flatten out at the tip too but they don't anymore

The best thing that I have ever found for my nails is Nailtiques Nail Protein Formula 2. You hear about protein for you body well this is it for your nails it works absolute miracles. It gets rid of breakage, peeling and weak nails. It is the absolute best I promise.

The only time I ever had nice nails was when i was pregnant taking pre-nat vitamins!! Now ive had my fake ones off for about 2 months and its time to get em back on....mine NEVER grow no matter what I use...ive tried em all!

K, the BF was sooooooo nice as to go to GNC and buy me some shit! He got me:

GNC Womens Hair, Skin & Nails Formula - The pills are green and REALLY stinky!!! (supposed to take 2 a day with food)


GNC Herbal Plus Horsetail - it has Silica in it, the lady said that there is no straight silica sold (?) (take two capsules 3 times daily w/ water)

I don't know what to take first, prolly the stinky pills cause the bottle is smaller. Well, anyways, thanks for the help ladies, yer all so wonderful! BTW, have any of you taken these pills???
