Yes it is common for sinus infections to last for a lengthly period of time and causing migraines. It should start clearing up and what not and the migraines should go away.

Sinus infections are known to trigger migraines. Unfortunately, sinus infections usually do not do any better with antibiotics (as evident by a recent study), and will often take 2-3 months to completely clear. Make sure you're also taking decongestants, which I hope your doctor recommended.

For months I had the same problem. My neurologist suggested Atenolol to help with the headaches/migraines (which it did) and could not figure out what was going on with the chronic sinus problems. I had a spinal tap and allergy tests. My chiro told me to stop drinking cow milk (that included whey protein). I swear to Goodness within a week I cleared right up and NEVER had a problem since. I replaced cow milk with soy milk. I use soy protein and Silk. I don't eat yogurt or cottage cheeses anymore. It love the stuff but I rather not be sick.

Food allergies are probably the number one trigger for migraines. Unfortunately, many patients do not keep adequate logs to identify their allergies.

That's right...

Also, yes the milk products will cause an increase in mucas production, which will only make matters worse for you. I assume the infection is viral, since you didn't mention antibiotics. Did your Dr. give you anything or suggest anything?

Because, provided you didn't have an issue preventing you from taking anything. I would recommend the following treatment

1. Claritin - D 24 hr. - Since it has pseudoephedrine sulfate in it you have to get it from the pharmacy (since the tweakers use it to make speed.)- nasal decongestant

2. Ibuprophen 200 - 400 mg every 6 hrs. for not more than 5 days and take with food, as it may upset your stomach - anti inflammitory

3. Nasal decongestant spray - not more than for 3 days, or you will suffer a rebound effect from over use.

For the bactirial infections statdoc... I found giving my guys an Rx of Cipro helped out a great deal in both fighting the primary infection, and the secondary ( usually ear ), which now that I've reread the inital post seems to be going on also. But, that's just my belief.
