I heard about this on Howard stern. supposedly there are between 8 million to 150 million rats in NYC so that's why they brought hawks into the city.

I know, they have no idea how many rats are out there. I'd settle for "a lot".

It's not funny. The poor dog and owner. What if it was your pet? I don't think they should stop the program because of one incident, that would be overreacting.

It's not funny. The poor dog and owner. What if it was your pet? I don't think they should stop the program because of one incident, that would be overreacting.

my cat woulda put that hawk in it's place....then they probably would've laughed about it and had a beer....then I'd have a pet cat and a pet hawk and the pet hawk could hang out on top of my fridge and swoop down for nibbles of puke that my cat leaves on the floor. And they could both go out and beat up chihuahuas.

We always go outside with our new 7 week old chihuahua for this very reason. Seriously !

The breeder we got her from lost one this way. hawk attack !

The older ones are too tough and would kick a hawks ass
up one side and down the other....

I've seen these hawks and they seem pretty cool to me. I have lunch in that park a couple of times a week. If they could train the hawks to peck a hole in the head of homeless people who come and ask me for money while i'm eating, it would be the greatest thing since Deviled Ham.
