Have you made a difference in anyone's life?

I have been doing some serious soul searching and have come to the conclusion that my answer is no.

I try to do the right thing and treat people with respect, but I just have the feeling that's not enough. I look at everything that I have done in my life and I honestlly believe that if I was not there to do it, someone else would have.

I just wonder if after I'm gone if I will leave any footprints in the sand or if after awhile people won't even notice I'm gone.:(

It's sooooo easy to make a difference in a person's life, man...VERY EASY.

It can be as simple as smiling at a person (a stranger) who seems to be extremely sad, or volunteer at an old folks home, or volunteer at an after school program for disadvantaged kids - offer them some hope and guidance...

If you HAVE a child, you are ALREADY making a difference in someone’s life :)

Don't sit around whining, dude. GET UP, GET OUT, AND DO SOMETHING!

Well, my mom and dad are very happy and impressed with what I have accomplished so far... so I know I've influenced their lives. I have several friends that I have given advice, counsel, or just someone to talk to... and I know it has left some sort of mark with them.

There are several people who have left marks on me... that's for sure... my current love has changed my life to something I couldn't even imagine... you could do that for someone else.

If you are talking about something that everyone for centuries will remember and bards will sing about... then I wouldn't get your hopes up... because those are legends... not too many people leave an irerasable mark on history my man...

What I'm talking about are the people around you, not the whole world.

I spent 10 years vollunteering at a women's shelter, while that was satisfying. I felt like I never really accomplished anything, because for every woman we helped 2 or 3 would come in behind her. I just expected to help everyone and when I realized that I couldn't , I had to get out of there. It just hurt to much.

of course you have

everyday you speak to someone you have probably altered their lives in some way

its true the assholes in this world get recognised by the deadlier sex more...and in general i guess. and that the nice guys can sometimes be seen as the 'background noise'

but in reality i doubt its like that. i am sure there are loads of people who rely on you every day, or will definately miss u if u r gone

Yup MANY times............most recently I was out and saw some guy putting the smackdown on some poor woman. Guy was BIG like 6'4" but drunk and hell and I knocked him out of comission fast as hell. Thing was people only saw me lay him out and got my car lic # and an hour later I was in handcuffs. FUCK. Turned out good tho the cops checked into it turned out the woman was the guy's SISTER and this had been going on for awhile. Cops actually were talking about putting a few more bruises on the guy after they then picked him up, they were not happy after talking with her. Poor woman was totally terrified and cried on my shoulder for 20 minutes saying how scared she was of her brother. Cop came by about a week ago and gave me an update, they really threw the book at the guy and it turnes out he had warrents too.......he,he...........happy ending if he touches her again the Allentown cops may find an excuse to kill the guy. I even made the paper!!! In fact I think I wrote on this board just after it happened saying I was probably going to jail and shit and bye to everyone.
