One thing about SARS: population is way denser and people intermingle in much closer quarters in places like HK, Taipei, and Tokyo then anywhere in the US.

what business does any countr in asia have letting anyone fly out with respiratory tract infections given the circumstances. you can quarintine the entire flight now

cases are starting to occur everywhere now, and to be hinest, any oriental or incoming-oriental tourist or inhabitant presenting with respiratory infection will be treated as a potential SARS infection. the frankly annoying thing is anyone who presents with respiratory infection will have to be treated this way as they could be infecting anyone. so not just recent travellers to the orient, but the indiginous population can be infected

EVEN worse is someone who runs from the quarintine, atches a flight to 'hide out' and infects anyone else. quarintine by force if necessary IMHO

bad time to be a health worker....very few hospitals have the facilities to barrier nurse scores of people
