Today is my last day as manager of a gym... I resigned to take a normal 9-5 job. I'm looking forward to getting away from the politics of this place. I also think it's really going to help my workouts... getting back to my old routing and working out at night after a stressful day working in an office is going to be great for my focus. :)

I will be missing my office though...

Can anybody relate?

LOL @ bw1 I knew I would see this post from you. Looks like you may get lucky this time though!

I could only imagine what kind of pic I'd get:worried:

I worked in a private gym for 4 years. It was easy work but shit; low job satisfaction, low wages, no long term benefit.

And the gossip levels among staff members was absurd to the point of actually being detrimental to staff cohesion / atmosphere.

Exactly, the guy that I managed with resented having me here and we never spoke a word to each other, unless it was telling him to stop acting like an asshole.

Agree, gossip level in most gyms is out of control.

Yea I can relate; there wasn't even any "professional" / civil tolerance of one another, it was literally "Look, fuck off mate you're getting on my tits now". People were involving their unions at one point it was that stupid.

in Toronto gym managers make $9.00/hour
better off working at Timmy's they have nicer uniforms.

LOL, yeah I made it to $10/hr. And they didn't follow through with promises such as apartment, car, commission. I'm so outta here.

drop the fucking attitude

Did the same thing about four months ago and have not been happier in a while.

Gyms today are all about money and sales, not health and helping people. There's no money in that obviously.

9.00 bux an hour, who the hell can live off that these days? That's 1440 a month before taxes. That wouldn't even pay for 1/2 my morgage.

Anyone who works in a gym is making shit, unless your a PT making $50/hour....but that is probably like 10 hours a week.

However, I know a guy who is the president of the YMCA in Milwaukee....dude is banking, making well over 6 figs and their retirement benefits are ridiculous...they actually get a pension.....course that isn't your usual spot the random guy and give advice, pick up some weights here and there job....

I worked in Gyms for nearly 6 years as a personal trainer and then a membership manager i the uk.

Pro's - Free sunbeds, membership, protein shakes, freebies from fitness companys

Con's - Bitchy gossip, hard to train without members bothering you and the reason I
left - Low Low pay

Now I have a crap job with good pay and a love for the gym again!

Bunch of pervets in here...Now send me the tit pics.. These homos dont deserve them
