and they didn't tell you about it? I checked my bank statement and my normal direct depost increased by like 40%?! I know there was talk that I shouldn't have known about (my supervisor is cool, he mentioned it to me) me getting bumped up to the next pay grade but that was a while back and no one ever brough it up. I think 40% is a hell of a raise.. If they made a mistake do you think I'll have to give the money back? Maybe I'll just spend it real quick

I moved to a different department and get about 40% more for doing a much easier job.

You were probably suppose to get 4%. 40% is very rare. Ceo type rare. Our admin once got a pay check for 1.25 mil. LOL!! Need less to say payroll corrected it the next day.

No, I usually had to remind them firmly without sounding pathetic and needy.

Raises should just happen yearly along with quarter, bi-annual or annual reviews.
