Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I've always been the type of lifter who puts on size and gains strength relatively easily. The problem is that it's hard for me to lean down. I always used to do the cardio thing in the am on an empty stomach and then I'd only eat a little throughout the day. I would lift in the afternoon and then I'd consume most of my calories after that. The times where I was able to control my intake at night, I'd lose some fat weight, but not much, and my muscle gains were slow.
Now....
I've been eating breakfast and have gotten used to eating less at night...WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!
I'm gaining muscle and losing weight with less effort and my cals aren't that low either.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Same here.
I have a slow metabolism so my best fat loss has occured where I taper off the calories with each successive meal during the day, leaving the last one to be a protein shake with flax seed oil, or some small portion of meat with veggies.
I cut off the starchy carbs after breakfast, so I get the other good carbs in vegies the rest of the day.
When I ate a balanced 6 meal/day regiment with 2 to 1 carbs/prot. like a dietician recommended, I couldn't lose weight.
If I eat too much at night I'll never lose fat.
