Has anyone told you you should compete?

I would compete, the only thing stopping me is the 17% bodyfat and the lack of muscle development.

Beside that I'm golden.

somebody bought the tights

Sure, but what do they know, most who say that have no clue what it takes to compete, most who say that don't know that your reward is some weak ass trophy, most who say that don't know that the so called "judges" judging you could not hold a candle to your physique on your worst day. If these shows paid some cash ($5000 - $10000, ) I'd clean up and be a show participating mothertrucker, but for now I'll settle for being the guy in the audience who looks better than anyone on stage, and naturally at that. peace

I hear that shit constantly. I tell them that I don't lift for that and never have and furthermore, I don't really feel like hopping up on stage all oiled up in a pair of teeny tiny trunks and flexing. I've been to one local contest and it was painful to watch. No wonder bodybuilding isn't popular.

i agree, my answer is always "I dont have what i takes" people immeditely assume a flaw in my physique, but it has nothing to do with that, its all the drugs and the politics.

Yes and that’s how I started competing..people always saying “why dont you compete?” or “you’d clean house on stage” I always told them I had no aspirations of competing…I do this for me, but all they did was bug me…so after going back stage a few times at shows…I started getting that feeling…I wanted so much to be on stage with the rest of them..so then I finally did it…

I dont compete anymore but whenever I go backstage to hang with my buddies who compete..i get such a rush like I want to be up there allover again.

I think i would want to step on stage atleast once, just for the rush, and to show off all your hard work. Man, must be a huge adrenalin rush!

ps. nice av. whats your arm size at? 18-19?

Yeah I have to tan I’m northern Italian, fair skin, blonde hair/blue eyes..

Because of my injuries my arm size at my summer lean weight has gone down, less than it has been the past years…now that I’m almost fully healed..next diet down phase next spring, after bulking I will get back to 19…

This past “bulk season” one year..wasn’t by choice..the surgery and injuries held me out of the gym for a while..so I decided to eat like a fat pig and eat the foods I been missing out on for a while..and at the same time be around the same SCALE weight..i knew id lose tons of muscle..and I did..but I put on water and fat and still weighed about the same…oh well…glad that crap is over… I cant wait till summer is over so I can bulk up the correct, non injured way

injuries suck man! mentally the most; however eating binge food does make you feel better, just not look it. Looks like youve been to hell and back; good luck with your Bulker!

I worked out at Gold's Venice for years. Nobody there ever said anything about my scrawny ass.

Now I'm working out at a twinkie gym in Orange County. There I've been asked a million times if I compete, if I'm a pro bodybuilder, if I'm a pro athlete, etc...

Environment is very important. :D

I used to work out in London and Wales - where they didn't even really have hardcore gyms. (The average gym was called a "keep fit" gym... and I kid you not when I say I never saw over 300lbs of weight total in a UK gym... just one bar... a couple plates... and a couple Nautilus machines.) (Gold's in London - no joke - WAS [don't know what it is like now] WAS about 12 feet wide and maybe 25 feet long for it's entire floor space.)

When I was in Wales a kid named Barnaby took me drinking at the pub one night. Before we left he warned me it was a "really tough" pub... so I needed to be careful. When we got there there were a bunch of Welsh tough guys strutting around trying to look bad - and I kid you not they all had about 13" arms. It was a hoot.

I hear SG----when I moved out here to San Diego from New Hampshire, big buys were 250 pounds well over 10%---now their 250 pounds under 8% two or three inches shorter walking around weight(which means their closer to 280-290) with legs(calfs and hams esp)most of the guys in gyms that ask people if they compete, have never been to a bodybuilding show-------or better yet the funniest is the 240 pound guy sitting in the audience who has the biggest upper body in his gym saying "gee if I went in this show, i would have took the whole thing......Some people have no fucking clue-----the diff---between 7% bodyfat and well under 5% on stage is silly and will make the 7% look like he dosn't even belong on stage regardless of his size...So far all you guys who have never competed and walk around the gym with 19 inch arms with well over 10% bodyfat, just stick to working out and staying in the gym----becuase your ego will be crushed when you get on stage and your arms are barely 17(unless your using synthol)and if your arms are that small--most likely so is everything else....and if your over 5'10, leave the stage for the midgets:)
