Has anyone had their BF% measured in the Bod Pod?

If so was your reading higher than you expected? This test measures total fat including fat around your organs.

Never heard of the bod pod, is it hydrostatic weighing?

It somehow uses air compression to measure density. Sort of like underwater weighing only it's supposed to be more accurate because you don't have to hold your breath.

I don't think they tell where the tests are available. There aren't very many of these out there right now. I live in a little hick town but we have a sports training center that has one.

yeah. there's one in my city......$40 for a test. two different caliper test had me at 15.5% and 16.4% bodyfat. the pod had me at 22% ! What was interesting was the tech running the test said they did a survey with men who had beards and ran their bodyfat test in the pod. they shaved off the beards and were re-tested and all were about 1% lower. Me personally, i've got a lot of body hair, and is usually kept trimmed.....don't know if that may have caused the higer reading. the pod does read fat around organs.....something a caliper can't read.

SJ, my results were similar. I was 22% in the pod but two caliper tests showed 16 and 17%. I've posted my pics on the chat board and everyone said I was a fat ass but I think that was just because they all hate me on that board.

I've had my tested at Ohio State many times, but in my opinion the bod pod SUCKS. It always measures me about 5% or more above what calipers measure. It does also measure viceral fat (organ fat). That bottle of jack a day must be doing it, damn fatty liver. j/.k

Do you think it sucks because it's not accurate or because it crushes your ego? I know my ego was hammered the first time I did the pod test and it showed 25%.

Ill let you know how accurate it is compared to the deep tank, plan to do both test on the same day in a couple weeks. But everyone else seems to have the same higher bf measurements in the pod. Ill let ya know plifter after i get both tests done
