has anyone ever visited Auschwitz? It's a museum/tour now

I have read that you can actually see the claw marks in the shower walls from the people trying to claw through the concrete and escape.

I think it would be informative & educational, but I'm not sure I could handle it..... tried to go to the Holocaust Museum in DC a couple years ago, but wasn't able to get tix... even the free displays were powerful...

Wish I had visited some while I was stationed in Germany. I'd like to go back sometime and see them and the area around Normandy in France.
