Prozac? Or known someone that has? If so, what was the side effects? Did it work for you? If you don't mind telling me dosage and how long. Thank you in advance for any input.

Im taking effoxor at 150mg a day, working pretty well...Paxil gave me really bad stomach cramps..Don't know much about prozac

my friend is a manic depressive, he wanted to quit smoking also. The docter gave hime wellbutrin im pretty sure it worked great, also my mom takes trazadone, I think that works well also, but most of these drugs build up in your system and take a while to work

Prozac will cause you not to be able to have an orgasm after about 2 weeks of being on it.... and when you quit the Prozac..it takes about another 2 weeks for it to leave your system....

Well let me assure you that I have been on Prozac for quite some time, but recently the Doctor upt the dosage. My sex drive is working just fine and I can orgasm over and over again, this is not the problem.

What I am experiencing is memory loss, I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this?

that is a known side effect of it. although technically it is more a side effect of other issues - like a limited attention span that can either be the reason you are on it, or an effect of being on it.

if you feel that it is bad, talk to your doctor

I have been on Prozac for long term, for clinical depression. Just recently the Doctor upt my dosage, because things in my life were getting a bit to nerve racking. I believe it has been the cause of my memory loss. I currently stopped taking it all together and my memory seems to be very clear. I don't think I even need it any more. I am not feeling depressed at all, I think I am working thru the hard times without it.

Thank everyone for their responses, it has been very helpful. :)

glad it is working out. I've been on and off of Zoloft in the past, and I feel much less zoned out when I'm not on it. which isn't saying that much because I'm pretty zoned out as it is.

Is it possible that you are really not having orgasms, but just forgot? :)

Have you thought about trying another type of anti-depressant? The switch might be better..then again it might give you other side effects, but if the memory loss or anything else for that matter gets too severe you might want to look into other prescriptions.

Take care! :)

best thing to do is to quit taking it all together.. get your memory back and face life head on.

Nobody ever said life was easy or fun. You gotta make it fun and easy.

next patient please.:D

I recently told her the same thing. Sometimes reality sucks, but you can make it!!!

no shit.. when was facing hard times supposed to be easy???
It amazes me.. it is like if you are not 100% carefree and happy and comfortable in EVERY situation.. they have a stronger drug for you.

Life would be really good if I could glide on through it on a narcotic buzz.. but that is not possible. I wonder what the percent of American on anti-depressants is? I tried them.. I was on 4 diffrent kinds.. and all they did was make a big problem worse... then I took my balls out of my pocket and attached them back onto my torso and faced life without taking drugs to "balance" me out.

It is funny how all of the people taking that crap always claim they need to be balanced out. I guess they think that those of us who don't take them have it sooo good.

Amen to that. Drug-free is the way to go. It amazes me the way too many doctors hand out prozac and ritalin at the drop of a hat. A friend of mine was offered prescriptions for anti-depressants at her first therapy session. She was smart enough to turn them down and she's doing just fine without them now.

I love you too...that's why I was so strong with you the other night. I am serious...you WILL get to where you need to be, I just can't do it for you and neither can anyone else.

See my signature...that WHAT IF part? There is no "what if" for ya, you WILL do it if you REALLY try.

Do it for yourself and your kids. Your fate is in your own hands too...only YOU can do this. Dig deep down inside yourself and figure it all out.
