Eat Right for Your Bloodtype? The book is written by a Dr. D'Adamo. He basically lists the blood types and foods which are beneficial and detrimnetal to persons with each blood type. His theory is that for each type, eating foods that are wrong for the bloodtype causes agglutination (clotting) of blood cells, which in turn may create serious liver or kidney problems and he thinks causes cancer in some cases. What is your opinion on this. I'm very, very skeptical. I think that food sensitivities are genetic but not linked to bloodtype. Any opinions?

It's a gimmick. I think that it's possible it could help someone out a little, but if you eat well, exercise, and rest, you'll be fine.

The idea is that the different blood types evolved during different phases of human evolution - i.e.
O = hunter / gather period (before agriculture) - these people do better eating higher protein diet, maybe more carb sensitive

A / B - agricultural period - tend to do better on lower protein, more veggies & foods made w/ grains.

Its interesting -- it seems to match but the categories are fairly broad.

I'm a type O, so it suggests eating lots of protein (esp red meat) They say to limit wheat products, dairy, corn and almost all nuts, plus lots of the fruits that I really enjoy. They also say for me to limit tomatos and other night shade family plants. I love tomatos! :bawling:

It was very big here in London.. Everyone was doing it, its quite strict though, I couldn't do it.. People had huge success with it..

The one thing that lent creedence to the program, for me, was that it isn't about weight loss so much as it is about good health. I liked that.

i read it, and its such bullshit that i wanted to run full speed into a brick wall

your blood type has NOTHING to do with your nutritional requirements. the differences between blood cells of different types are SO RIDICULOUSLY SMALL when viewed in the context of the rest of the bodys complexity that any imbecile trying to correllate nutrition with nutrition needs to be thrown into a straitjacket and have one million units of lithium injected into him/her straight away, be lobotomised, and then gassed to death.

its in the same league as a diet basing your food choices on the letter of the aphabet your name starts with

 x infinity

I sort of gave it a look see, in the sense that I picked it up and went to the dietary recommendations for my blood type (A+).

Figured it was full of shit when I read that my diet should be esp. high in grain, leaning toward vegetarianism ... I've been gluten intolerant since the late 90s (no wheat/rye/barley/oats).

It's illogical if you think about it ... as long as humans have been around, all the intermingling of races of man.

I blame most disease on environmental (or emotional) toxins and our bodies inability to detoxify out the garbage it's innundated with daily, just in the air we breath and the water we drink, not to mention the pesticides and other chemicals our crops and meats are bathed in.

For a much more interesting read on disease causes try "Detoxify or Die" by Sherry Rogers, M.D. or any of the books by Nancy Appleton, Ph.D. who postulates that mineral imbalance is triggered in the body by refined foods, in particular sugar, and that mineral imbalance is a major contributor to a multitude of Dis-Ease of the human condition :qt: I also like the books by John R. Lee, M.D., who has some very interesting ideas about environmental xenohormones and their disasterous effects on the health of both men and women.
