HARDCORE AUDIOPHILE (got to know)

I hear from you are coming from. I too, am an audiophile, but I don't have the proper funding to support my habit. once I get some bills paid off this year, I will be back in the game. but, only on the low end of hi fi, mind you.

the peoples champ, does'nt matter whether low end or high end as long you don't listen to music thru those japanese minicompo garbage you will be fine, don't know why people still listen thru it, I at one time asked a friend whilst he were listening to music what he actually hear? and he says music, then I pointed to him that you can only hear boom boom and vocal,I invited him over and listen to my system and he's now a convert.

I just recently bought a matched pair of studio reference monitors (Behringer TRUTHS)

must say it beats anything else when it comes to sounds above 50hz... it sounds like you're inside of the song when listening to some songs on them.

I've still got a pair of 10" Cerwin Vegas kickin for the low frequencies. I'd take a pic pf my complete setup but no cam yet.

some ppl like to supe up their cars, I like to supe up my listening.

I like that last comment you said. I have yet to start on my home hi fi setup, but I know what I want to start out with. some electrostat hybrids, and just a stereo amp. no brands yet, because I haven't the money, which means I haven't done the studying yet. and yes, my truck was suped up enough to where I had concert level volume and quality.

God I love you guys!!!!!!
the people's champ, you sure you gonna go for eletrostatic?????
be warn...once you listen to music thru electrostatic nothing else will do!!!!!!! try listening to the beautiful ladies name MAGGIES these ladies is just superb!!!!! however if you decide on Martin logan then try to get it for home demo, these beauties is quite difficult to place but once you got it right...god.....the misic!
BIGD...cerwin vega truly kick ass,the beringer uh..uh.
both of you're doing fine.
as for me I'm still listening to music thru sonus faber electa amator, listening thru it will water your eyes.

sheit, I had some nice sennheiser phones before they got trashed. now I just listen to my music through my yamaha 5.1 receiver through energy home theater fronts. it aint the best, but it is what I have. pretty soon, I will start my collection of nice toys though..

Yamaha is a decent receiver and Energy......is amongst the best home theatre setup, l suggest you go for energy speakers since you're used to the sound, how about the veritas range?
and may be you can drive it with musical fidelity intergrated amp.
it kick ass and can be charming when called upon.
good luck.

well, my yamaha is a home theatre receiver, and my energy's are suited for home theatre as well. I want to start over with a pretty solid STEREO amplifier, maybe something like a rotel, or NAD. looking at maybe 45-60x2. then speakers? haven't figured that out yet. I would like to get electros since the sound is just lustrious from any angle. I just forgot how the imaging sounds like when placed in the correct hearing placement. we'll see. I haven't done any research lately. but I definitely want to get a hi fi quality cd player as well, maybe a marantz or a high end yamaha(for their warm sound).

ROTEL !!!!!!!!!

I used rotel RB 990bx power amp and rotel RC 995 preamp, driving my sonus faber, frankly when my hifi buddy drop by they like....why??????? expensive speakers driven by alcheapo ($400/- power amp & 350/- preamp)......until I fired it up!!!!!!!!!!
Then they start wondering do their multi kilo bucks actually worth that much, if you can get rotel preamp and power amp like McCormack with arcam cd player....as for speakers maybe I could suggest something if I know where you intend to put your setup and the size of the room, anyway you might want a bookshelf ( it images like the devil small speakers!!!!) for added punch you can add a subwoofer later on.
