My home computer crashed. On the hard drive I have more than 200 downloaded songs. I just ordered a new computer from gateway. How can I retrieve those songs from my old hard drive and transfer them to my new computer??

If the HDD is still readable, Install it in the New machine as a secondary slave drive.

If it is toast, you will need to have it opened and data retrieved by a company that does this data recovery.

That's cool and all but I need step by step directions. If I shipped the hard drive out could somebody burn the songs on to a cd-rom drive for me?

Do you have a Best Buy or CompUSA or such in town?
Most of them will do this and refer to it as Backing up your data.

OR CD Buy a Burner for like $100
It really is simple using the Windows burning software or even IE.

Best Buy won't touch it unless the computer was bought at their store. I need someone that can get the information out of that hard drive and burn me a few cd's. I don't want to install it on my new computer in case it gets fucked up, furthermore, I have no skills!! Bastards!!

I'd say I'd do it - but I'm not sure you really want me to send you back a cd full of pictures of me sleeping, and songs that I sing in the shower.

YLifter has the right idea - but it is also very feasible that all the stuff on that drive is toast.

200 songs would take up probably around 15 CDs, so if you can't install the new HD into your new computer, just re-download the songs... im sure they're still around.

How about pictures of you singing naked in the shower?

Best Buy actually told you this ?
WOW, they sell all kinds of stuff here in FL and then charge to install it in your machine. Any machine you bring in.

Anyway, my thoughts are that what you are doing is Illegal,
and this is simply Karma coming back 2 fold on your butt...

And yes, I am now complete and can die a happy man, as HappyScrappy has agreed with me..

I knew he really didn't hate me..

good point. for some reason i was thinkinf that if he actaully burnt them so they were listenable from a stereo or something, but as .mp3 files, you can fit a ton on a CD
