I'm sure Armstrong et al's Mars proposal to the POTUS will get danced around in a chorus of HOAP and CHANGE, only to go straight in the 'to shred' pile and never spoken about again.

It always seems that mankind is significantly more productive when it concentrates on pursuits of discovery and exploration that further humanity. I wonder why that is?

Then again, weighing philosophical insight and technological advancement against personal monetary/material gain and socioeconomic power is a seemingly trivial task for most...

A small step for man, and a lifetime walking away

Today's generation could surely learn a thing from Neil Armstrong:

Those who know Armstrong say his behaviour has been consistent over his 78 years. Even before the world insisted on lionising him, he was his own man, faithful to his standards - reject personal glory, avoid focusing on the self, keep what's private private.

That man has character, my hat off to him. Why can't you Americans elect people like him for high office?

I love his quote once in a magazine. "I walked on the moon. No way in hell am I going to let some #@${*!$*! take that away from me!"

btw: We like to elect people who go on tv and smile, kiss babies and make us all kinds of bullshit promises to fix everything.
