I'm used to buying a lb or so of fresh sliced ham from the deli at the grocery store, so if this is bad then what do I get? I guess for turkey I can get a whole one but what about other meats???? Is there any way to get healthy ham?? Thanks to whoever made this thread, its opened a new barrel of worms for free.

Nah. not for me.

I have a somewhat limited income, so I make do with any low sodium kind I can. If you can afford to though, get the real meat. Red meat, chicken, ect. Enjoy what you eat. Healthier and MUCH better tasting.

Packaged meats usually have lots of nitrites. Nitrites have been shown to significantly increase your risk of colon cancer. Stay away from any processed meats if possible.
