Seen some hair loss posts and wanted to opine.
Just looking to help some folks out and also would welcome any comments and other opinions.
When it comes to effective hair loss treatments it really comes down to the big 3. I have listed them in order of what I would call importance/effectiveness:
1) Finasteride (Propecia/Proscar @ ~ 1mg/day) [works from the inside in preventing conversion of DHT which attacks the hair follicle and causes hair to become thinner/weaker and eventually stop growing]
2) Minoxidil (Rogain @ 5% twice per day; morning/evening) [works from the outside as a topical medication directly rubbed/massaged into the scalp; effectively helps to open/strengthen the hair follicle]
3) Nizoral Shampoo (1% OTC or 2% via Rx) [used in the shower as a shampoo]
Of course there is also Dutasteride (Avodart) but one may recommend the usage of Finasteride first. If this is ineffective, or if the effects of Finsteride begin to lapse, perhaps due to the body becoming accustomed to the drug over a lengthy period of time, then Dutasteride is a great secondary option and be rather powerful.
Hopefully this helps a bit. Of course comments and criticism always welcome.
