Hair Miniaturization Question

ahthong

New member
Is it normal to have a few strands of very thin hair (I believe it's called vellus hair) on the scalp, even for people without MPB genes? I'm 29 and don't look like I'm balding, at least not yet. It's just that recently I've become a lil' paranoid over these few thin hairs shed that I see every now and then. Thanks anyone!

Sorry, what I'm really getting at is whether it's normal to have a few miniaturized hairs on a normal scalp? Also, does it mean that if my dad's bald then I'm doomed to be bald too? Thanks again.

Everyone has some vellus hairs. In fact, each follicular unit is composed of one to five terminal hairs and one or two vellus hairs.
Plus, vellus hairs occur all over the body (check out your forearm).
Andno, it is impossible to predict who will develop MPB, and to what extent, based on family history.
