Hail to the General!

Hey folks just thought id say hi and introduce myself. I have been BB for 15 years making me 30 years old. I am a true Canuck (Canadian) to heart eh? lol. This froum seems really cool and alot of good info to look at. I 've seen a few good articles from spatts, beast, debaser, and ironaddict.

I use to compete amatuer style back around 5 years ago and use to weigh 255 at 5' 10/ 9% BF in the off season. But my posession was turning people into giant freaks instead of making myself one. I now weigh 191 at 11%BF and Im content with it. But still have the gift to make monsters.

I seen alot of routines posted on here like HIT, 5X5, Volume stuff ect. and I'd say alot of people are overtraining thier bodys and not eating properly or enough. I did not get to 255 lbs by eating 3 to 4 meals a day you have to feed yourself like a wild beast. 60% of your results will come from eating and nutrition the other 40% is the way you train. So for those who dont focus more on eating kiss those 60% results goodbye and if you end up doing some sort of high volume training kiss the other 40% goodbye!

I am a firm beliver in basic compund exercises. Pwerlifting, Squats, Bench Press, Deads ect. Isolation exercises are for pussys. Stick to the basics and you will grow! I am also a firm believer in low volume training. A few light warmup sets and 1 set to absolute failure (using such principles as rest pause, negatives and forced reps) is enough for cellular breakdown, recuperation and than growth.

Now I wont take into the account of genetics cause Id be here all night. Yes everyone is different and some people grow with volume training. But if I ever did which I have got a hold of a volume trainer and took him through one of my so called The Generals Workouts it would make his workout look like Disney Land. Everyone has many different theories and methods of training past down by generations of informative people in fitness the cool thing is finding what really works for you and always have an open mind about different training methods some day something new you try just might end up working for you!

Peace bros! Good to be here!

Welcome to the forums. I've noticed a lot of people siding with low-volume as of late. I myself feel that it probably is the best way to make gains in both size and strength, but only if you definitely work it hardcore. The extra sets, I feel, are a kind of insurance in case your first set wasn't enough or you didn't put in enough effort. In any case, welcome. Why not show us one of "The General's Workouts" - I'm interested to see what you would recommend.

For sure Tom Ill post some of my workouts in a few days as I am in the busy season of work and have no time too right at this moment.

Nah beasty your comfortable with what your doing and so am I. Kudos bro! I took a look at your training quite impressive lifts. Me and the beast will get along just fine!

ThanX brother!!! Glad to have you aboard!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :bday:

Though beasty you are 5' 8'' making your joints short making you able to lift more with less distance to preform a positive and a negative. Would you classify yourself as mesomorphic? Nice dam arms though!!

Have you ever treid low volume training? Cause Im 5'10 193lbs with a very long jointed upper torso/upper body and a short lower torso making it easy to gain on my legs.

And my bench is 355 for an easy 2 locked out with long arm joints. Though I have uncanny shoulder, trap and forearm strength this might give me an edge over most ectos!

Kudos bro still impressive lifts!

ThanX brother!! Ive never really paid much attention to the Ectomorph,Mesomorph and Endomorph classification. Not sure which category Id fall in. Maybe a bit of Meso and Ecto? If I remember them correctly. I was always real skinny, and took very long for me to gain weight. I cant say Ive really ever tried low volume training. I know however that if I do not blast the shit out of a muscle it wont get even remotely sore. Ive always been into the idea of the more soreness the better. As Ive gotten more and more conditioned its takes so much more to get sore then it used to. My legs never responded too much overall. My shoulder strength is definately a strong point for me as well, traps also, forearms are pretty weak. I can hold over 700lbs with chalk and a mixed grip, but thats not much IMO. ThanX again brother!!

Welcome! It's great to have someone with competition experience. Although largely a BB community, I think it's safe to say that most of us have not competed and are fascinated by the training and preparation that goes into it.

I would love to gain strenght above all else, and my time is so damn limitted! A monster low volume scenario would be PERFECT for my goals. Look forward to some General specifics ( ;) )
