Hi all,
I've been reading these forums for a few months now, picking up training tips and enjoying the discussions. I haven't yet posted, but I'll be coming over to the States (from the UK) to live in Chicago for around 18 months, and I was hoping that someone could recommend a good gym/s in Chicago.
From what I've read here, I look for the same kind of equipment as most people i.e. sturdy bench and squat rack, oly bars and weights, good selection of dumbells, cable machines etc. I'm not too stacked in cash so probably looking for more of an 'old school' gym (no-nonsense lifting!) than a modern fancy one, much as it would be great to have a steam room, extensive cardio machines etc.
Since this is my first post, a little about myself. I'm 23, 5'9", around 165 pounds. I've been lifting on and off for a few years but only started seriously in the last year when I started incorporating more powerlifting techniques. I'm always interested in new moves/training styles and I'm hoping to start doing some olympic lifting in the next few weeks.
Current PB's (pounds):
Bench 270 1RM
Squat 270 5RM (haven't tested 1RM yet: early days!)
Deadlift 340 5RM (ditto)
Thanks for any help. Would be really appreciated as I don't want to undo the good I've done over the last few months.
Cheers,
Mark
