I like to open a car door for a girl, but only to smash her face in with it, then run her over and choke her out with carbon monoxide fumes. I will not however go out of my way to treat some girl like a princess when 75% of the time they do nothing to warrant even being treated with any sort of respect above that which is granted just from being a person, never mind being treated like a princess.
I love it when a guy opens the car door for me or opens other doors for me. I think it shows a lot of character and respect - not to mention thoughtfulness and it is just plain sweet! I think my BF is too comfy with me - he never does it anymore! *sigh*

I think it's so nice when guys open the door for me. Especially strangers who will hold a building door for me. I'm not as impressed with guys opening car doors because like Darktooth said, that usually just means he's trying to get into your pants! But if it's a new guy I'm dating, if he doesn' do it, that tells me that he has no manners at all...That's why I like it better when strangers do it, since they will probably never see you again, they are being genuinely nice! Or just trying to get a glimpse of your ass. lol.

What do we get in return for this? When did this practice start and why? I have always done it when I'm on dates and at other times depending on the situation. I guess it's one of those traditional things that seems kind of dumb if you think about it. It's implying that women are too weak to take care of themselves. There are some women that I wouldn't lift a finger for. They are called bitches.

I’ve held open many doors for women before. I would say that about 95% don’t even acknowledge that you are there. They just walk through like it is expected.
One time I held a door for these two girls chatting away. They didn’t even break their pace. Not even a “thanks” or anything. Now I was pissed so I got ahead of them to the door that I know slams back hard because it is heavy and has a tight piston on top that closes it. I opened the door and timed it as I walked through. Being LAZY like most people are they both attempted to slip through before it closed and they got PUMMELED!!!
I’ve held a door out of curtsey for guys and they at least say thanks.
These are the reasons why I don’t hold doors! For the 5% who appreciate it I am sorry. For the rest, screw you! Self centered bitches!

i open (building) doors for old people always, and usually other people too that are going thru the same time as me

I wholeheartedly agree with the Phatmeister on this one. Sometimes I really just standstill and am in sheer astonishment as to where the chivalry and valor have gone in this world, especially when one cannot even perform such a simple gesture showing manners for a loved one. I myself cannot even begin to count the number of times I have remained seated in the car waiting for my lovely maiden to come around and open the door for me without any response aside from patronizing glares.

I didn't read all of the replies, but I like to do this kind of thing. Whether it's opening a car door for my girlfriend or holding the door open for a woman on the way into work or a shopping centre, but nowadays it's so hard to figure out what woman will look at you and say "I can open my own door you sexist muscle bound chauvinist asshole!". Actual quote aimed at me.
I think it's from being the youngest of 6 with parents closing in on 70... makes me a little "old fashioned". Oh well, so be be it.

I open doors for my girl all the time. I've opened the car door for her (to get in) every single time except for 3 since we've been dating...about 4 months. I open and hold doors for guys, as they understand respect, the elderly, as I was brought up well, and for small children, since they've not become slut-whores and assfucks yet.
Unless a chick is worthy, she can open her own fucking door. Princesses are in faerie tales and foreign countries. Women here, for the most part, consider men to simply be "wallets with penises" (that's a direct fucking quote from the "modern" type of gal), so to Hell with their idealized concepts of "chivalry" while they are on their way out to cheat on their husbands.

I open the door for ANY female getting into my car... Even if it's just a co-worker, and a bunch of us are going to lunch. Mr and my girl have been together for a long time, and I still open her door every time she gets in the car. My mother taught me to always open the door for a lady, so I do it. I always open the door for my passengers. actually, I always unlock the door (since I don't have keyless entry) for guys and go to my side, but for the ladies, I open the door, wait until they get seated and then close the door. just something that I do.

I have a buddy whos gf will either sit in the car and wait, or stand at the door and wait, depending on wether they are coming or going, for him to open the door for her. Same with all restraunts, dates, whatnot when me and my wife have gone with them for, and he says its not just then, she does it all the time. This girl is a snot nosed cunt, by the way, that hangs sex above his head to manipulate what he does. It has totally trashed his self confidence, and it just gets worse. Actually, I don't like a guy to spend a lot of money on me. I feel bad if he buys me things and all that, and I can't pay for just as much. I guess that might be silly or even petty, but I like to be able to give just as much as he does. That goes for everything, not just monetary things. THis applies to giving of a person's self and heart too. It should never be unequal.
