So am I going to take a karma hit? Sweet! Lol. I actually have mixed feelings on the matter. I kinda agree with spiderbaby that it might be more useful (and honest) to ban them or not ban them. I guess they aren't really defective -- they make bullets go really fast just fine, most of them.
I lean in favor of banning them, myself; I've lived in bad parts of Jersey City where it's not too unusual for kids and innocents to get hit by bullets in drive-bys.
I've also lived in the worst parts of Tokyo (Sanya, for example) where guns are illegal and therefore much much less common. Violent crimes exist there, but the rates are miniscule.
Now I'm not saying it's a total solution, or that I'm completely committted to it, but I have to tell you, I felt a lot safer in Tokyo. The worst crime I ever witnessed or happened to anyone I knew in the many years I lived there was one of my fit girlfriends beat the shit out of some drunk teenage yakuza who grabbed her ass, lol. The police really didn't know what to do, since she called them and filed the complaint. the poor fool she fucked up didn't know whether to claim to be the victim or to claim nothing happened. I nearly pissed myself laughing. In the end, they both got warnings. In Jersey City she'd've been dead if she beat up the equivalent gangsta type.
But what do you pro gun guys think of that? Is that a legitimate argument for gun control or not. I'm a bit on the fence though leaning towards the banning/control thing. Don't flame me! I just want to know what you think?
