One thing that amazes me about the US is how we can be SO over-zealous, dictorial and totalitarian in so many of our policies and procedures (war on terror, tax laws, child custody, gun laws, criminals rights, etc.)

and in the same vein, we can be total nimrods, completely gullible and be cushy carpets for people to walk all over (corporate tax fraud, illegal immigration, gangs, drug war, getting our asses kicked in the global economy, fighting terrorism, etc.).

You're right. We got on one side liberals giving the country away, and on the other side over-zealous, out of control conservatives fucking things up. None of those two candidates even interests me one single damn bit.

btw: Those prisons still pale in comparison to the gross mistreatment and violation of basic civil rights to foreigners who are STILL locked up post-9/11 in prisons all across america without ANY access to lawyers or media or family members. Their names aren't even allowed in the public record. Just locked up indefinately like animals.
 
I'd like to round up the 1000 Somali's that were relocated here and detain them. They blew thru our general assistance fund. My friggen taxes are $34.83 per $1000....and it's soooo not a nice area anymore.

I also want to detain and house all the white wanna-be rappers who wear baggy-ass pants. There's only one Grand Master B allowed on this Earth

Yes, isn't the legal system based on 'innocent until proven guilty'? I agree that anyone who is a terrorist should have their ass locked up but whatever happened to things like 'due process' and 'right to counsel'?

And I've heard about these of these concentration camps during the cold war. Speculation if they were for Russian commies, illiegal aliens or the bottom 90% uf US citizens during the Regan administration. Huge empty lots surrounded by fence and barbed wire.
I just heard a conversation over the weekend about this same thing going on right now in Portland, Oregon.
Good thing it would never happen to me.

When we hear about something or talk about something, it is unsubstantiated. If it wasn't we wouldn't hear or talk about said subject. It would then be known that it was known by all.

One of our local churches came up with the bright idea of relocating a couple dozen Somali families to our 99.9% white town. A great idea because everyone thought that giving a dozen families a new life was a good thing to do.

Well.....the families learned that they could receive free money in addition to their free apartments by accessing our town's general assistance fund.

So...Mohammed Mohammed called all his friends back in Somalia, told them about free money and free housing, and we now have 1200 Somali's living here. Most cannot speak English, they have poor job skills, do not own homes so they do not pay taxes, and continue to suck off our tax revenues.

Worst of all, they called our town racist when we told their elders that we could not afford more relocated families.

And the ultimate insult: Many of the Somali's here are members of Farrah Aidid's clan. The same clan the killed Gary Gordon when he roped down to save Michael Durant in Somalia. Gary was from here. His parents drive thru town all the time watching these same fools who fired on their son.

And now, we are finding out that some of the Somali's lied on their immigration papers about their criminal past and some have ties to a former group in Somalia that once was tied to Al-Queda.

Not selling my house but honestly looking at a place on the coast. Many of my neighbors relocated to other towns. Most moved South and sold their companies. My neighbors own companies like Geiger Brothers (Geiger counter/Farmer's Almanac), Gates Formed Fibre, car dealerships, multi-million dollar companies. They were so pissed that they picked up and moved to other areas.

Our town basically became two cities. The nice end and crappy downtown.

I'm at the point where I can't stand it. We have fights at our high schools where Somali kids pull knives, there are few jobs in Maine as it is, and now, there is talk of more coming to the Southern part of the State.

My friends and I are going to be building a huge casino if the governor grants our license and the Somali's call all the time asking if they can get casino jobs.

The worst part is we constantly are called racists if anyone publicly says this situation has become rediculous.

Over 35,000 people lost their jobs in Maine in the last 3 years and another 1000 people sucking off the taxpayers does not help. Our crime rates increased mostly thanks to Somali's who do not understand our way of life.

lol, Baldacci won't allow a casino. He's doing all he can to throw roadblocks in the Racino plan because he's so anti-gambling, but at the same time voted to have Powerball, which will destroy MegaBucks.

The Maine government is probably the worst run state government in the country. Why can't we just bring King back? I mean he really caught us up to speed. :rolleyes:

That's exactly it!

My parents were immigrants sponsored over by a church group some 25 years ago. When they came over to Canada they started working immediately, busted their asses in doing so. No freebies for them, which is the first mistake your town made.

I'm not going to bash the Somali's b/c at one point my family was the "Somali". The second mistake your church group made was sponsoring two DOZEN families. The church group that sponsored my family only sponsored two families, mine being one of them. Bringing in over two dozen families is just asking for trouble, considering where they are coming from. The process must be doen SLOWLY. When immigrants come in such large groups they have their "own" to stick to, and so there is no need for them to learn the ways of your world. However, with my family they had none of their "own" to stick with, so they were forced to learn the western ways.

No offense but you only have your town to blame for that one. A very humanitarian act, but at the same time very careless.

It won't matter what he does. He won't get reelected because he's pissed off his biggest supporters. If he tries to support it now he'll look like a hypocrit, but if he doesnt he'll get nothing. I just cant wait till he's voted out.
