Hello EF

I;ve made it to Singapore. I flew here on Singapore Airlines, which was wonderful. Business class with these guys was better than ANY first class I've experienced except Virgin Upper Class....and that ticket was $10,000. (long story)

The approach was spectacular - for the geographically challenged, Singapore is at the end of the Malaysian peninsula, so lots of blue water and greenery on the way in. Sort of like a Caribbean approach, but nicer.

Singapore is the opposite of Hanoi - clean, green, orderly...a striking departure from the chaos and hectic style of Hanoi. It's almost antiseptic here, but I'm in a nice hotel, everything is complimentary, and I need to relax anyway.

This destination is work related, lots to do over the next two days.

Hope all are well - I'll put up some pics as time permits, though pics of Singapore are like pics of Chicago, sorta. Seen one business district, seen 'em all, though I'll try to get out and about.

I'm trying to build some high-end condos there. Waiting to see what happens with the casino plans first.

The Marina is nice but the wrong location. Plus, $600 Million an acre is dumb.

i didnt like singapore much. its sterile. you can have fun with a good attitude though, for sure, but i freaked out at only seeing asians everywhere

yep, its a culture shock. you go from thinking "hey, how interesting!" mode to "ok im sick of this, can we hang out with the normal people now please?"

they were all so skinny! and short! and all the same color! it was like being in the smurf villiage or something, but with slanty eyes...

A lot of Asian Countries kill people for drug related crimes. Singapore is tough because they do not want to become shitholes like most places in Asia.

Thailand is just as tough and a hundred times dirtier.

None of them do it with the smug self righteousness that Singapore does. Vietnam, Thailand etc are third world countries. The social unrest here will shatter this place in less than 25 years.

They finally allowed people in Singapore to chew gum this year .....

The ruling family is changing their structure. New freedoms, social programs for the poor, casinos and shopping. It will get better, not worse.

I'm opening a private bank there later this year with three wealthy clients I have. Singapore banking is going to be the new "Switzerland".....without the hot swiss babes.
