higher, free testosterone levels

Makes for successful offspring and a more competent provider.

Come on, you don't REALLY believe that? And even if it were true, does that really mean that they deserve to be treated in such a fashion? Somehow I don't think one would have the same opinion of a man like saaaaaay, JFK - would they if Jackie O treated him the way that he treated her (numerous indiscretions).

With this statement I agree 100%. Sadly too many women are socialized to tolerate such vile treatment by their men. I know, I was one of them. I still remember when my own mother asked me after I split with my ex, "Well what did YOU do to make him beat you?" After I looked at her like she had 3 heads she then asked, "Well was he drunk or sober when he did it?" Then her final question to me was, "Why don't you work it out with him. I mean, was it really THAT bad?"

My father stopped beating my mother when we as little kids stepped in front of my mother and yelled at him, "Don't you put your hands on MY mother." He never hit her again. He only had the lovely pet name, "You dirty whore." for her thereafter.

I only began to realize how truly poorly my ex treated me until the night he beat me down and I didn't understand fully what a TOTAL bastard he was until he began to hurt our kids.

Head case? maybe... We are all products of our environment. The good news is that like with any other self-depreciating behavior the cycle can and will end if a man/woman accepts the fact that THEY have a real problem and they get the help they need. Celebrities put their pants on one leg at a time as well - they are not infallible gods.

Of course no one "deserves" abuse. But to call a woman who chooses it a whore is silly. A whore is a value-based judgement. When a woman chooses to be abused it is not that she lacks moral fiber. As I said before, often times because of conditioning she doesn't even know that she is being abused.

This applies to men as well. How many men put up posts about their cheating women that take advantage and treat them poorly? Just because those women don't hit their men (often times they do this as well, men just dont report it as openly) doesnt mean they do not abuse them. Name-calling and controlling jealous behavior is abusive. No one gets a beer bottle thrown at them on the first date LOL - the abuse is suttle and escalates slowly. I have heard more than one story of a man beating his wife on the night of their wedding.

And as I stated before, regardless of how beautiful/smart/witty/successful a woman/man is in our eyes, if they don't see that themselves it doesn't really matter, now does it?
 
Hey guys!

Let's do a test. Let's all go into a club and strike very intellectual, mature, respectful conversations, w/o alchol to fuck it up -- really listen to what the girl is saying, be kind and sincere and make sure you tell her you have a nice job and love your family and donate time to animal shelters. Be a REAL nice guy.

and let's see how many get #'s. :)

more like the women youre talking about arent really that great

a good woman should know how to choose a partner, make a relationship great and keep it great

just because someone is attractive doesnt mean that they deserve, and will get a good partner. or re a good partner

Ah Robert, shining a light under the ignorance of youth once again I see.

Words have meaning young man. The term whore specifically has ameaning which has nothing to do with the behavior you describe. Perhaps you should choose your words with greater care in the future.

It might also help to make you look less insecure and mysogynistic

I don't like your condescending tone, old man.

The word whore may not be the best but it's certainly not entirely out of place. Tolerating being abused (while of legal age) shows a great lack of self respect which is very whore-ish to me.
 
No, a whore is someone that goes out and sells her body for sex.
low self esteem and self worth are 2 different things

You should choose your words better when u say them. Sometimes your just a little brat when u say them, you try to act all smart and shit, like u know what the fuck your talking about and it is getting old FAST.

Kid, when you have lived a while, come back and talk to me.

If you are one of the lucky ones who gets through life unscathed then bless you and more power to you.

The rest of us live in the real world, and the ugly things that can happen to good people, your little experience has no ability to comprehend. As a general rule, you might wish to avoid calling women whores. Especially when their only "crime" might have been poor luck or esteem issues.

Of course I understand that some people can't help the bad situation they're in one bit. In fact that's a belief I adhere to strongly. I think the word "whore" just hit you guys some stronger than it would me or I expected it to.
 
It is a very ugly word Robert

Strange that you chose to use it when many of the women you referenced were altogether faithful to abusive spouses who returned their fidelity with scorn.

In fact, many would have been better served being a little "whorish" ,self serving,and willing to move on sooner with other men. Instead they stuck out bad situations far too long, often for the sake of their children.

I see everything in a very contrasted black and white. Sure, this is stereotypical for my age. I do think in most cases including this one, it is correct. If your spouse abuses you, get out. Right away.
I don't think children are helped one bit by a hateful marriage of their parents lasting any longer.

I don't think people can, or should, recover an abusive marriage, it will never be the environment one would wish for their children to grow up in and people deserve a lover that they have never felt enraged hatred for in their life.

I don't see the middle ground here.
This is of course all judging from a distance and adding stuff up, not experience. I find it hard to respect people who tolerate abuse
 
Easy to see in balck and white when it involves other people. It's when we ourselves are involved that things seem "complicated"

Try looking your children in the eye one day and telling them they can no longer have their mom living with them and tell me it was an easy choice. Try it when you know the decision will likely put all of you in dire finacial peril as well. Tyr it again when your spouse has repeatedly warned you that he would sooner see you dead than let you leave, and the cops warn they can't do anything until he actually commits a crime.

Think things through a little Robert

but there are a lot of girls who get out of these situations and then go seek them out again with a new guy

I think those are the girls robert is calling whores, and what he means is they are dumbasses.

Oh I understand it would be hard. Harder than I personally understand in depth at this time. I do think the interest of "not being abused" should overrule the others.

Also Bran is right too. I said... Choose them time and again... Many women are finally released from such a fucked up situation only to drop right into the next one, even though many good moral men remain single and looking
