Grape juice...good source of carbs after a workout?

My post workout meal is:

1 Isopure....40g protein, 25g carbs (maltodextrin)
8oz Grape juice.....42g carbs
400mg ALA
5g Creatine

I know Grape juice has is very high glycemic, but is it a good source of simple carbs post workout?

it's ok as long as it does not cause your total daily # of carbs to go over the limit you desire

No, the daily carbs are within limits. Is there a better source of carbs post workout, or should I stick with this?

It's not a good source for post workout as far as it replenishing your muscle glycogen. The fructose will only go to the liver glycogen. You'll be a lot better off upping the maltodextrin to around 65-75 grams, or using 65-75 grams of dextrose for post workout.

other than dextrose the best natural food to eat post workout would be some honey...

Disagree, honey is half fructose, which will only be used to restore liver glycogen, instead of muscle glycogen after a workout. Also anytime your liver glycogen is full, it gets stored as fat instead of going to muscle glycogen since fructose cannot get stored in muscle glycogen.

1/2 dextrose
+ 1/2 maltodextrin

is the perfect post workout drink

dunno if this helps...

THis supplement company in south africa recommends that you mix your creatine with grape juice for maximum results. I personaly dont know why but thats what they say
