Got my Wisdom teeth pulled today

I have herd everyone say how miserable this is supposed to be, but I don't see why.

They say that once the numbness they give you wears off it will hurt like hell but it has been several hours since my surgery; all of the anesthesia has worn off, my mouth is not even the slightest bit numb anymore and I still don't see what the big deal is.

Was it like this for all of you or did I just get a really good surgeon?

i think it has to do with the surgeon. all i was given was motrin and had no pain. my mouth was swollen and i did taste blood but no pain

take real good care of it so you dont get dry sockets, i tasted blood for like 2 weeks after it was nasty

For the first two hours I kept cotton on it to take care of the blood. They told me that if I soaked them in tea it would help the blood clot faster. Seemed to work.

LS, I am 17, and thank you I am confident that I will heal fast

gmanlax7, I am refusing to take the pain meds because I don't trust strong opiates and I don't need them.

Since I can't eat anything solid I will mix a weight gainer...

I just found out I have my first cavity but we discovered a ton of them on my wisdom teeth. I'm getting mine out (in the next few weeks) before they get more decayed. Plus they're starting to push my front teeth out of the perfect state that braces gave me. I can get new retainers etc to fix the minor moving once they're out.

Since you are older, and your teeth are already causing problems your operation will probably far messier than mine.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Wat the hell don't you trust about painkillers?

Damn, talk about a touching note....

I had mine taken out and was back at work 2 hours later the same day.. .never had a problem with them.

Yeah, it probably will be messier-- especially since my dentist told me that once someone hits the age of 24, blood sprays out of their mouth whenever any dental procedure is done. It should be interesting.

Actually it shouldn't be a big deal as 3 of them are all the way in and they just have to break/pull them. The 4th one is almost cutting through so that one shouldn't be a big deal to pull either.I'm just hoping not to get dry sockets or all puffy.

Really? I've never had a problem with that. I think that he may be preparing you for the worst.......

OK, Tiervexx, pay attention, cause this is important: NEVER, EVER--UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE--leave an oral surgeon without a prescription for Percocet or Vicodin. Oral surgeons will give you a prescription for just about anything if you just fake it well (I have a feeling you might know how to do that anyway, no? :D )

OK, that wasn't very brotherly of me. I actually don't like opiates either... Screw 'em if you can.

Can I sell those or something?

I had mine removed at 19. It sucked because I was stupid and ate some corn chips a few days later and got a dry socket from it. Whatever you do bro, just follow the advice given by your dentist, trust me I know.
