Got my Gamecube!

Sort-of. My g/f is giving it to me for Christmas.

Damn! Last week an X-box, and now a Gamecube in a few weeks.

Metroid Prime here I come!




Too many damn games to play and not enough time. Time to quit my job and get employment insurance. hehe

I read that Nintendo is saying Metroid isnt an 'FPS' but a First Person Adventure. This is because there isnt really a lot of fighting, and the aiming is pretty automatic... i.e. very un-Halo like.

Have u tried it? If what I read is true it sounds pretty lame to me, but there sure is a lot of excitement over it. Whats the attraction?

Btw.. if you want a fun game.. check out (either rent, or buy) Starfox Adventures.. Its truly a nicely made, and fun game..

gamecube console sales and titles are falling down the charts big time. Unless Nintendo makes a miracle it's safe to say it'll probably be off the market within a year, and go the way of the Saturn.

Heck, every video game store i go to dedicate 3 shelves to xbox and ps2 stuff -- and one tiny little section to gamecub. Things that don't sell well -- they have no desire to stock fully, nature of the beast.

you're right -- it just looks too kiddiesh,a nd the games are too kiddiesh too. And lack of a online adapter to play mulit-player stuff does NOT help either. nor does a killer app like Grand Theft Auto 3, etc.

What about the Gamecube exclusive: Resident Evil Zero.. is that kiddish? nooo. They also have some of the games from the other consoles, such as Need for Speed: Hot pursuit 2 (awsome game btw). the new Bond: Nightfire.. among others.. These systems fail because of people like yourselfs. Thats why Dreamcast died (I miss it), because people were like.. "Oh!!! it doesnt say sony on it! im gonna cry!" Wtf people.. I'm going to be upset if Gamecube Dies like dreamcast did... Online? Not needed, its a CONSOLE.. computers have been around for years for Online play (btw.. dreamcast had online out of the box, and I was playing quake 3 on it over 2 years ago!, at the times that sony was promising online play.. but are just now gettting around to it). Gamecube is a good deal, its cheaper than the other systems, has a strong graphics system, 4 controller spots, and a few good games.. Hopefully more to come.. but at the attitude of the Consumers, they are going to kill it just like they did the Dreamcast.

on a side note.. dreamcast died because of the saturn in some sense.. people saw the fail in saturn (admitidly, it was bad), and didnt give dreamcast a true chance...

You need to open up your mind to new things!
I like all systems, and respect them all for their own reasons. Truthfully though, out of the 3 systems, ps2 would be the last system I would buy. The only reason for me to buy a ps2 would be the number of titles that are out for it.. but xbox has great hardware (and a few great games, and online).. while the gamecube has classics, and good hardware too (not as good as xbox, but better than ps2)

It's a matter of opinion, I have never cared for Gran Turismo.. on another note.. Resident Evil Zero - Game cube exclusive... Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Xbox exclusive. There are much more, but I actually havent shelled out any money for any system yet.. so am not that familiar with the games.. The only games that make a ps2 worth the money are Grand Theft Auto.. but I played the hell outa GTA3 for pc, and plan on playing vice city at a friends.. I never said that ps2 sucked, I am just saying that gamecube and xbox DONT suck.. I consider all 3 systems equal in their own respects...

Ahhh......good ol' console bashing. The video game boards are loaded with this.

My reason for having all 3 consoles (plus a high-end computer), are for system exclusive games. I don't want to have to say, "I wish I could play this game, but I don't have a ps2 or a Gamecube, etc.

All the systems have great games to play.

BTW Metroid Prime will probably be "Game of the Year".

And even with them I get bored pretty fast. I just dont think its all that great once the novelty wears off. And it dosent have mutliplayer mode. Halo annhilates GTA IMO and I think that those are the 2 games that sell the systems.

XBox has newer, smaller controllers now.

and there is even a controller that you can get that is a ps2 controller than works on the xbox if you are into that - no fucking clue how that works - but I've seen them out there for sale.

I like all the systems - I just fucking wish that they would go out to high res screens as well as the Dreamcast did - the dreamcast had the best fucking output system.

A game shouldn't have to exhibit hookers, running over pedestrians, and blowing humans/aliens/animals to bits just to be fun.

It could have that too, but I don't rely on that in order to enjoy a game. Try starfox and tell me it isn't one of the best games out this year. Mario Sunshine is the king, though. I've never played a bad Super Mario game and this one's no exception. What other platform based game has this type of reliablity?

You want adult? Try the Resident Evils on Cube. They're the best yet.

Ah, I'm just being ornery. Here's my serious opinion:

GameCube--Doesn't have any titles that interest me. I haven't touched a Nintendo system since the original 8 bit

XBox--Cool box, good hardware, some good games, but I still hate Microsoft. That said, I will probably get one because of some of the exclusive titles that are coming.

PS2--Got one, love it. Had the original PS, bought the PS2, and haven't been disappointed at all.

I'm not nearly as into gaming as I used to be. I play Madden on a fairly regular basis, and that's about it.
